    Emergency Preparedness Presentation

    Tuesday, April 26th from 10:00-11:00am

     

    Presenters: Chief of Police, Michael Finkelstein and Deputy Emergency Management Director, Julie Wilson

    This informative session will provide vital information to help senior residents and their caregivers be prepared for emergencies. Topics will include Millstone Nuclear Power Station sirens and what you need to know in the event of an emergency at Millstone, severe weather preparedness, common scams targeting seniors, how to register for special assistance during an evacuation or power outage, safe disposal of prescription drugs, and how to receive local alerts and emergency information from the Town of East Lyme. Attendees will gain knowledge to enhance their personal safety and stay informed during crisis situations.

    Join our interactive class right from the comfort of your phone, computer, or tablet and learn more about dietary factors, free radicals and trauma can cause arthritis as well as how arthritis is diagnosed and what you can do to prevent it. Presented by Evan Gross, exercise physiologist, GoodLife Fitness. Q&A with the expert will follow the presentation

    Transportation News- Senior Center

    On July 6th, the Senior Center will resume limited
    transit service. Due to COVID-19, the service will
    begin with only 1 passenger allowed on the vehicle at
    a time. All passengers must wear a mask unless there
    is a medical contraindication. The revised schedule
    will be:
    Monday:  the south part of town can go to Waterford/
    New London
    Tuesday:  the south part of town can go the grocery
    stores/pharmacies/bank
    Wednesday:  the north part of town can go to Waterford/
    New London
    Thursday:   the north part of town can to the grocery
    stores/pharmacies/bank
    Friday:   will be left open to try and accommodate any
    requests that could not be fulfilled during the
    week

    Medical appointments are a priority. All other ride
    requests will be scheduled around those. If you have a
    medical appointment, reserve with the Senior Center
    office as soon as you can. This schedule will remain in
    effect for the month of July and will be re-evaluated
    in August. You must be registered for this service.
