Under the Medicare improvement for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 (MIPPA), states, received funding to help Medicare beneficiaries apply for the Medicare Part D Extra Help/Low-Income Subsidy (LIS) and the Medicare Savings Programs (MSPs).
