  • Special guided tour of Harlem’s famed Apollo Theatre. The tour is educational, entertaining, and inspirational. Hear the story of the theatre and legendary people who performed here such as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, James Brown, the Supremes, Stevie Wonder, and so many more.
  • Lunch at the famous Slyvia’s restaurant served family style. Started by an ambitious woman in 1962, Slyvia’s had become an icon and place to be seen. Presidents, Senators, Govenors, Mayors, and people who appreciate delicious food flock to Sylvia’s. Three Jewish widows meet once a month for tea before going to visit their husbands’ graves. Ida is sweet tempered and ready to begin a new life; Lucille is a feisty embodiment of the girl who just wants to have fun; and Doris is priggish and judgmental, particularly when Sam the butcher enters the scene. He meets the widows while visiting his wife’s grave. Doris and Lucille squash the budding romance between Sam and Ida.

Trip: Harvard Glass Museum & The Mapparium

Picture a giant, hollow ball made of glass with stain glass as if it were a political map of the Earth turned inside out – you are inside The Mapparium. We will enjoy a three course family-style Italian lunch at Maggiano’s Little Italy. Next, be amazed by the realistic flowers made of blown glass at The Glass Flowers exhibit in the Harvard Museum of Natural History. Moderate walking. Trip fee $150pp. Registration now open.
