Cribbage Summer Break

The Monday afternoon cribbage players will be taking the summer off from
cribbage and return during early fall for the next greatest challenge. Whether
you’re new to cribbage or an experienced player, the participants are willing to
help you at whatever level of knowledge you join them with. Rest, relax and see
you in September. The doors are always open to participate for an impromptu
game of cribbage regardless of what month it is!

Senior Center Picnic

Wednesday, June 21st

 

We will have the usual fare of hot dogs, burgers, salads, etc. Lenny Domina will perform from approximately 11:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. There is a sign-up sheet at the senior center or you may call the Senior Affairs Office at 860-887-5581 ext. 6 leaving your name, phone number and number of hot dogs or hamburgers you plan to consume. We’re hoping for a bright, sunny day but should we have rain, the picnic will go on! Looking forward to sharing an enjoyable afternoon with you.

Join us for mentally stimulating and challenging activities! You’ll have fun doing brain teasers, trivia, word power,
categories, giant crossword puzzles, famous phrases, armchair travel and more!

Latin Line Dancing

DAY: Tuesdays, 10 weeks
TIME: 10:30 – 11:30
BEGINS: June 6

This class instructs seniors in various line dance routines in both Latin and Ballroom Style. Latin dances include samba, merengue, rumba, cha cha, salsa, swing and mambo; Ballroom dances includes waltz, foxtrot and tango.
From these various dance styles, routines are learned such as Burlesque, Hello Dolly, Singing in the Rain, Puttin’ on the Ritz, Senorita, Sway and many more. Dance is excellent physical activity for seniors, as well as utilizing the mind in remembering steps/routines and lastly a means of interacting socially with other seniors.

INSTRUCTOR: Annie Chapman

Mats, blocks and chairs (for props) are available or bring your own. Anyone can attend regardless of flexibility or injury and modifications are available for every pose. We practice breathing with stretching and breathing with building strength and balance poses. Come to class to recover from injury and illness or simply to improve and enjoy daily life. The movement of yoga asana may increase bone mass. Practicing yoga asana and meditation may
help with anxiety and depression.
