Start with a delicious, all you can eat, buffet lunch featuring a large selection with all foods freshly prepared onsite.  After lunch, enjoy the hilarious performance of Run For Your Wife.  Following the show, return to your seat in the dining room for dessert, drinks and a fun-filled Cabaret Show!

A taxi driver gets away with having two wives in different areas because of his irregular work schedule.  Complication is piled upon complication as the cabby tries to juggle both wives and keep his double life from exploding.  It doesn’t quite work and that means lots of laughs for us!

COST: $94 per person includes charter coach bus transportation, fabulous buffet lunch, matinee performance of “Run For Your Wife”, and Cabaret Show.  Driver tip is not included.

White Gloves by Karen Warfield

 

Set in Norwich, CT in the 1860’s, White Gloves is an historical fiction novel with themes of mystery, intrigue, deception, and redemption.  Follow the story of Edwina Wojneck, a maid at Rochurst Manor. New to her position, the current staff shares with her the strange and disturbing past of Master Rochurst, and the tragic present circumstances of the ladies of the house.

Norwich author Karen Warfield is a founding member of the Norwich Historical Society and served on its Board of Directors for several years. She was Associate Editor for The Norwich Historical Society’s The 9-Mile Square, published by Bill Stanley.  Karen is a U.S. Army veteran and a graduate of Southern Illinois University.

Dementia & Caregiving Series

Mondays in April   1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

 

Join us for this free 4-week series presented by Kristine Johnson, Dementia Specialist from Hartford Healthcare Center for Healthy Aging.  Are you caring for someone with dementia?  Do you want to learn more about the progression of the disease and helpful communication tips?  Would you like to be able to recognize common behaviors and know how to respond?

April  3rd – Overview of Dementia

April 10th – Basics of Communication and Understanding Behaviors

April 17th – Safety and How to Structure Daily Activities

April  24th – Taking Care of the Caregiver and Care Options

Participants are encouraged to attend all 4 sessions but it is not required.  A question and answer period will be included each week.  Community Recourses available to you will be discussed.

Creative Arts Group

Meets Mondays at 10:00am

 

Group lead by Kerri Redner, LCSW, RYT, C-MI

This group meets weekly and will focus on music, movement (in chair), writing and art.  Each week different music is played to help guide a creative activity.  New participants welcome!

Generations Family Health Center

Wednesday, March 22nd from 11:45am-12:45pm

 

A representative from Generations Family Health Center will be at the Senior Center to discuss the health care services they offer. Generations is located at 330 Washington Street, Norwich.

Drop-in between 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. to discuss your health care needs.  An appointment is not needed.

 

Center of the Blind Presentation

Friday, March 24th at 10:30am

 

The South East CT Community Center of the Blind will be speaking about their organization and the services they provide to those persons who are living with low vision or blindness.  The Center of the Blind is located in New London and offers services such as transportation, Lunch & Learn programs, support groups, and a retail outlet stocked with items for those with vision impairments.

Discover how technology is helping the visually impaired become more independent.  This one hour presentation will be followed by questions & answers.  Examples of items they sell will be available.

Presentation by Wendy Lusk, Executive Director, South East CT Community Center of the Blind, Inc. and Kevin Harkins, Board of Directors Vice President.

Join Jan-YourGardenGURU, Jan Mallett, as she shares secrets to growing herbs, flowers, veggies… EVEN in the tiniest of spaces: windowsills, decks, porches, etc.

Master Gardener and Certified Garden Coach, Jan Mallett teaches gardening skills to beginners of all ages and helps to create garden designs, big and small.

Tai Chi & Qi Gong

New session starting March 3rd!

Fridays from 12:00-1:30pm

 

Cost: $85 per 8 week session

This class is open to Senior Center Members who have previously taken Tai Chi and familiar with form and movement.  Can’t make it to the March 3rd class?  No problem!  You can start on March 10th.

Not sure if this is the right class for you?  Stop in on a Friday, talk to the instructor, and give it a try!
