MedRIDE II ~ COVID SAFETY MEASURES IN PLACE

If you are in need of medical transportation, call the new MedRIDE II program. WE can help. The
town of Montville and City of Norwich have joined together and received a grant to help transport
seniors to medically necessary appointments. Do you need to go to Yale, New Haven, Hartford
Hospital or Farmington to a specialist? Let us take you! Call 8608895960 for your appointment.

Chair Yoga- Friday at 10:15-11:15am

New session starts on Jan 6th and ends Mar 24th. In person instruction on Fri at 10:15am.
12 classes. Class fee $30R and $33NR.

Chair Yoga enables participants to enjoy the benefits of Yoga without having to get down or back up from the floor. This class will help participants maintain their fitness, recover after injuries or surgery while bringing calmness to the mind and a lifting of spirits. It will also help to improve brain function and co-ordination. A chair is used for the class. Please bring water and wear comfortable clothing and appropriate shoes.

Pickleball – Open Play (No drop in play) on Fridays at 12:15-2:30pm

Open Play – Beginners- Advanced Beginners, $3 per play. Must have knowledge of the game. No lessons will be given. Must register your interest to play for the session and then register weekly for the next upcoming date of play. $3 per play.

Groton DEI Collaborative- Wednesday, December 7th from 3:00–4:30pm

Please join us on Wednesday, 12/7/22 and share your thoughts, observations and suggestions. It has been some time since the group met and we are touching base to establish movement for the future, including expectations and recent work completed.

We will also explore and seek volunteers to help us in partnering with a consultant to reestablish and recommit the structure and work of the Collaborative.

Country Line Dancing- Mondays at 9:15-10:15am and Wednesdays at 1:15-2:15pm

Come have some fun learning and dancing some country line dances! We will offer two Country Line Dancing Classes at the Center. Monday’s from 9:15 AM-10:15 AM and Wednesday’s from 1:15 – 2:15 PM. Enjoy some exercise while country line dancing and having fun, getting healthy, and socializing with other seniors! Free, wearing comfortable clothing and come have fun!

Strength Training- Monday and Wednesday at 11:30am

New session starts on Jan 4th and ends Mar 22nd
(no class 1/16 & 2/20). In person instruction on Mon and Wed at 11:30am.
21 classes. Class fee $53R and $58NR.

Men and women can lose more than five pounds of lean body mass (mostly muscle) every decade of their life due to disuse. Studies show that muscle mass can be increased in people of any age through regular strength training. Strength training also strengthens your bones, helps with weight management, provides relief from arthritis pain, lowers risk of injury, and improves cardiac health. Dyna bands, weights (1lb to 10lbs) and chairs are used for the class. Please bring water and wear comfortable clothing and appropriate shoes.

UKULELE LEVEL 2 LESSONS – Mondays 11:00-12:00pm

New session starts Jan 9th ends Mar 20th. In person instructor led lessons for advanced beginner and more experienced students on Mon at 11am.

9 classes. Class fee $45R & $50NR

Ukulele Lessons are provided in a high quality group session. Learn how to strum chords, play a song melody and meet others interested in music lessons. Knowing how to read music is not necessary. However, participants should know the C Family Chord Group. Loaners are available.

FOOT CARE PROGRAM

Come and get the Foot Care you need. Our On-A-Good-Foot Program can help. Foot care not
covered by Medicare will be paid by a grant received from Senior Resources with Title III funds
made available under the Older Americans Act. A suggested donation of $6.00 is appreciated and
helpful, not required. Dr. Thomas Walter, Podiatrist comes to our Center once a month to perform
