Outdoor Pickleball Courts

The outdoor Pickleball Courts are reserved for classes on the following:

Mondays 10:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Wednesdays 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Thursdays 10:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Courts are open to Senior Center Members only during our normal business hours and are available on a first-come, first-served bases on days/times not listed above.  Use the courts at your own risk

Beltone Hearing Aid Clinic

Thursday, July 18th from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.

A Hearing Care Practitioner from Beltone will be at Rose City Senior Center for cleaning and checking all makes and models of hearing aids.  They will also be available to answer any questions you may have about hearing aids and hearing health.  This is a free service.  An appointment is needed.

Recovery Support Group

Wednesday, July 17th at 1:00 p.m.

If you or a loved one has been affected by substance abuse/recovery, please join us. 

These meetings are based on the idea that there are great benefits in bringing individuals together from various pathways of recovery to share and learn from one another. Join Nurse Barbara as she leads this monthly group discussion and gives support.  Meetings are open to any senior in recovery along with seniors who have a loved one struggling with substance abuse or impacted by addiction.

Group meetings will be on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 1:00 p.m.

Start with a delicious, all you can eat, buffet lunch featuring a large selection of freshly prepared food.  After lunch, enjoy the hilarious performance of Nunsense – A Musical!  Following the show, return to your seat in the dining room for dessert, drinks and a fun-filled Cabaret Show!

Nunsense – A Musical! ~ A hilarious musical comedy about the misadventures of five nuns trying to manage a fundraiser.  Sadly, the rest of the sisterhood died from botulism after eating vichyssoise prepared by Sister Julia (Child of God).  Thus, the remaining nuns – befuddled Sister Mary Amnesia; ballet-loving Sister Leo; street-wise Sister Robert Anne; the Mother Superior Sister Regina, and (mistress of the novices) Sister Mary Hubert – decide the best way to raise the money to bury their dearly departed is to stage a talent show ~featuring their own “talents”!

COST: $99 per person includes charter coach bus transportation, fabulous buffet lunch, matinee performance of Nunsense – A Musical!, and Cabaret Show.  Driver tip is not included.

Carol Ruggiero belonged to a writing group in Milford, CT for over twenty years.  Upon her passing, her devoted husband Albert Ruggiero felt her writing deserved a bigger audience and published a collection of her work in Pearls from Carol.  Join us to hear Albert discuss Carol’s life and her short, funny, and thought-provoking stories, poems, and essays.  This will be a laugh-out-loud experience!

Albert has also offered to entertain us after with a rousing sing-along as he plays his saxophone.

Circle In – A Conversation in Music and Movement

Tuesdays at 12:30pm

4 week class ~ July 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th

Instructed by Elaine Bentley Baughn – LMFT, Author, Systems Consultant

For those who like to sing or dance – or both!.  This group-led participatory practice will stir memories and emotions, release tensions and tears (both sad and glad), and evoke stories and laughter.  Each group member is invited to bring songs you enjoy for all to learn and sing, or just listen.  Share favorite songs and find some that are new to you!

Some full-body movement practice will be shared, but everyone is free to stand and dance, or sit and move in your chair – engage in musical expression with your body and voice as you feel moved.

Ice Cream anyone?  Buttonwood Farm makes over 50 flavors of ice cream at their farm.  Along with the ice cream, the waffle cones and whipped cream are also handmade onsite.  During your visit, have a cup, cone, sundae or shake of their delightful treat as you enjoy the views of sunflower fields and farm cows at their scenic country location.

Cost: $2 for transportation (Senior Center bus).  Ice Cream is on your own.

Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away. is a groundbreaking traveling exhibition featuring over 700 artifacts and 400 photographs on loan from more than 20 museums, institutions and private collections from around the world.  Auschwitz was the largest concentration camp established by the Nazis during World War II and the place where over 1 million people lost their lives.

Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away. is the most comprehensive exhibition ever presented in North America dedicated to the history of Auschwitz and its role in the Holocaust.  The vast collection of personal objects is meant to humanize the lives lost at Auschwitz and to serve as a remembrance and as a reminder of the need to combat hate and evil wherever it exists.

After visiting the exhibit, a short ride brings us to Faneuil Hall Marketplace and Quincy Market.  You will have time on your own for lunch, shopping, exploring the area, and reflecting on your day.

Beginner Chinese Dance Class Coming Soon

Upcoming 3 week class – August 13th, 20th, and 27th

This 3 week beginner class, instructed by Min Zeng, will cover the basic elements of Chinese dance.

Chinese dance is a beautiful, unique form of movement with a rich history going back thousands of years.  This form of dance is comprised of precise body, hand, eye, and head movements, which are used to covey expression and feeling.  No dance experience needed. Can be done standing or seated.
