February Volunteer of the month- Barbara Daniels

We would like to thank Barbara for her hard work and dedication to the center. Barbara is
being recognized for her commitment and outstanding work as a volunteer. She pitches in
with anything we ask her to help with such as, events, our community garden, grab and go
lunches during COVID ,and decorating for lunches and dinners.
Barbara is a retired school teacher of 35 years and decided to volunteer at the center because
she’s social, likes to be involved and loves to give back to the community. She’s married to
Jack who also volunteers and they have 1 son who lives in California. Barbara’s hobbies
are reading , going to the beach, fair weather golfer and she loves to travel, she has visited
Africa, Greece, Thailand and the Caribbean which was her absolute favorite.
Barbara continues to volunteer at the center because she has made a lot of friends and really
likes the people. She stated “ It’s nice to see everyone coming back to the center after a long
hard haul with COVID and the positivity and happiness they all bring through the door is
refreshing!”
Thank you Barbara for all of your amazing work as a volunteer!

GREETINGS FROM YOUR FITNESS INSTRUCTOR/PERSONAL TRAINER—CHRISTINA PALACIOS

It has been my pleasure to serve as the centers personal trainer since the gym reopened this summer. I am just so
inspired by the dedication to well-being I see amongst our community, even in these unprecedented times. The
gym continues to be a buzz with the sound of machines and conversations of our strong members.
I have had the opportunity to meet with and train our new members and also give refreshers to returning
members. We have such a great gym with really nice equipment. What I love about the space besides the people is
the windows and all the natural light! It’s the next best thing to being outside for your workout.
If you are considering signing up or renewing, now is the time! I am available
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11:30 -3:00pm. I encourage you to let
me help you get acquainted or reacquainted with the gym and assist you in
discovering a workout plan that best suits your needs. Beginning this winter, I
will also be offering personal one on one training packages for those who wish
to work with a trainer on a more consistent basis. I will take the time to assess
your needs using a series of assessments that will help to identify muscles that
may be over active or underactive. This allows for a more personalized plan
and approach to your training and overall wellness.
If you have not seen our newest piece of equipment “The Cyber Cycle” I
definitely recommend you check it out! We are really very lucky to have such an
amazing bike. The Cyber Cycle is a recumbent bike that can take you on an
adventure through the woods, along the seashore or partake in a speedway!
Looking for more action? How about slaying some dragons while working out?
But of course, if you would rather simply sit and read your book while you
cycle, the Cyber Cycle offers that with its state-of-the-art design and smooth
pedal.
Lastly, our group fitness classes continue to thrive! Thankfully even with the challenges faced we have not
skipped a beat, “pun intended”! The energy and enthusiasm is contagious and of course the music is on point!
Come and check that out as well. Your very first class is free and we welcome you to give it a try. Classes do fill
up quickly so don’t wait to register. If you miss registration you can always pay the drop-in rate and fill a spot as
space allows.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out. Let keep moving and grooving as we celebrate a new year ahead! – Christina
