Join us as Thrive 55+ partners with the Eastern Connecticut Community Gardens Association and the Thames Valley Sustainable Connections Fund to offer free weekly workshops that will focus on uncomplicated preparations to accentuate the superior flavor of fresh, locally grown produce. June 25th – September 10th. Each participant will receive a fresh bag of organic produce weekly before the start of class. This program is free and enrollment limited. Registration required. MUST be registered by June 15th.

Physical Therapy / Occupational Therapy Presentation

Presentation on physical therapy/occupational therapy and how it can enhance the quality of life for individuals with Dementia. This presentation is being led by Dr. Shayla Adams PT,DPT and Occupational Therapist Kim Bucko. The talk will emphasize the indispensable role these therapies play in tailoring interventions to suit the unique needs of both patients and caregivers.

On a lush tropical island during World War II, battles of the heart are center stage in the Goodspeed premiere of the soaring Rodgers and Hammerstein classic. A lovestruck nurse and a young lieutenant are pulled into the tide of separate romances in an exotic world of risk and passion. But prejudice clouds their potential paradise. Show is approx. 2.5 hrs (including intermission). We depart Thrive 55+ at 12:45 pm. Cost is $75 resident/ $85 non resident.

Seniors Farmers Market Vouchers

  • Eligibility is 60 years of age or older OR disabled under the age of 60 who lives in senior housing where congregate nutrition services are provided. Income of not more than 185% poverty guidelines ($2,322/month or $27,861/annual for household of 1; $3,151/month or $37,814/annual for household of 2, etc). Participants can go through means testing to support income eligibility (i.e., SNAP or Medicaid).
  • Cards can be used to purchase only CT grown fruits, vegetables, fresh cut herbs and honey.
  • Cards can only be accepted at authorized locations (a list of farm markets and farm stands will be provided). It is likely possible to coordinate “pop-up” markets at a senior center or other location if working with an authorized farmer.
