Novelty Songs 2

If you like music and having fun, please join us in welcoming back local resident, Tim Baffaro, who will present “Novelty Songs 2”, a selection of funny songs and other songs that you are familiar with. Come on down for a good time on May 22nd at 1:00pm.

Ceramic Class

This Ceramics Class will be held at the Lymes’ Senior Center and is offered by Fired Up. It will be held on May 22nd at 1:00pm. The piece choices you have are a flowerpot with tray (4 1/2 inches tall by 4 inches wide), a ruffled heart candy dish (7 inches wide by 6 inches high), or a bud vase. (5 1/2 inches tall). The cost of the class is $20.00 and is due to instructor on the day of class. Pre-sign up is required. Call (860)434-1605 ext. 240. A minimum of 8 people is needed to run the class. Projects will be completed that day, then fired back at the studio and returned to participants 2 weeks later.

Groton Rotary Club Dinner to raise funds for Academic Scholarships is May 4th

Groton Rotary Club Dinner to raise funds for Scholarship fund takes place Friday, May 4th at Groton Senior Center.

Join us for this evening dinner to benefit Groton Rotary Club Academic Scholarship Fund. 2018 Rotary scholar awards of $2,000 will be given to three graduating seniors from any of the Groton high schools: Robert E. Fitch High School, Ella T. Grasso Southeastern Technical High School, or the Marine Science Magnet High School. The fundraising dinner takes place MAY 4TH 2018 at 5 pm.  The cost is only $6.00 per person.  Menu is BBQ Pork ribs, mac and cheese, green beans, corn bread and dessert.

Day trip to Newport Playhouse: Edwards Twins Show

Groton Senior Center presents day trip to Newport Playhouse: Edwards Twins Show TUESDAY, MAY 8.

This will be a matinee 11 am show.  The World Famous Edward Twins, is the top Twin and Impersonation act in the world. Their vocals and looks will amaze you. You will think you are seeing and hearing the real superstars right before your eyes. From Barbara Streisand, Sonny and Cher, Andrea Boccelli, Bette Midler, Johnny Mathis, Perry Como, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder to Neil Diamond all in one show. We leave at 9:45 am and return approximately 5 pm at Groton Senior Center via GSC bus.  Cost includes transportation, lunch and show is $65/resident and $75/nonresident.

On Location Sketching

On Location Sketching- Tuesdays 10 am to 12 noon, May 8 to June 19). 7 week class $40. To register email Sharon at s.star@comcast.net Weather permitting this class will take place outside at various locations, most in Old Lyme. Learn how to sketch a scene quickly with loose brushwork and drawing, then pulling it together by selectively adding some details. On rainy Tuesdays we will work in the Old Lyme senior center on drawing and watercolor exercises related to location sketching. Bring a small sketchbook, some pencils and pens, hat with brim, folding chair to first class (we will meet at senior center) where we will go over a short, suggested supply list. Drawing experience helpful but not required. Class fee is due when you register, refunds only if instructor cancels.
