CHOICES

This program is Connecticut’s State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP). It provides free information and assistance about current Medicare choices, Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap), Medicaid, Long-Term-Care Insurance, long-term-care options, prescription drug assistance and other related state and federal programs.

Each Area Agency on Aging is staffed with a CHOICES Coordinator who receives extensive training in health care issues. The coordinator provides written information and advise and when appropriate, refers consumers to a trained volunteer counselor, for additional assistance. Volunteers meet with older adults, other Medicare beneficiaries, and/or their families at various sites statewide.

Area Agencies on Aging provide general assessments of older persons who appear to be in need of resources and provide them with appropriate assistance.

Connecticut Classic Duo

Connecticut Classic Duo
Join us on September 28th at 1:00pm for an amazing musical performance. Iris Bendokas Rogan, violinist and Thirzah Bendokas, cellist are teaming up for their first concert tour of New England this season and will be stopping here at the Lymes’ Senior Center, having toured for the past several seasons in Central Florida and along Florida’s west coast. We have an entertaining and varied program of popular classics, familiar popular tunes, as well as patriotic, Disney, Broadway melodies and hymns. Both sisters are graduates of The Mannes College of Music and The Juilliard School in Manhattan, Iris is a former member of the Orlando Philharmonic and Disney’s Candlelight Concerts Orchestra, and I, in addition to being former Principal ‘Cellist of the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra in Connecticut, was soloist with the Boston Pops Orchestra in Symphony Hall, Boston as well as with virtually every symphony orchestra in Connecticut. Audiences often hum along and often clap their hands and even want to dance to some of our more lively selections, and they hope that our new friends in Old Lyme will enjoy doing the same!
