“Afternoon Tea with Cole Porter”

The Harris Roane Duo, featuring vocalist Julie Harris and guitarist Stephen Roane, will perform An Afternoon Tea with Cole Porter will be held on September 13th at 1:00pm. The program tells the fascinating story of the life of Cole Porter, from his birth on an apple farm in Peru, Indiana to international fame as a leading composer of music for Broadway and Hollywood, introducing all the fascinating people he encountered along the way. The narration is highlighted with some of Porter’s most memorable songs, included “Begin the Beguine”, “Night and Day”, and “I’ve Got You Under My Skin”.

Windows 10 Basics

Take a look at the new Windows interface. Learn how to navigate the new start menu, discover the difference between Edge and Internet Explorer, and of course how to use your new personal assistant, Cortana. On Monday, September 12th, from 1-3 p.m. we will be holding a free 2 hour Windows 10 Basics class open to all seniors. Limited space available. Call (860)434-1605 ext. 240 to register. T-Bone:His Wit and Music

Join us for a Senior Social on September 7th at 1:00pm as T-Bone, a professional entertainer for over 40 years, performs for us. His special blend of wit and music will have us laughing, singing, clapping along, and even dancing within minutes! We will also have refreshments after this free performance.

More Drawing Class: 8 Week Session

Alice Community Discussion

I want to introduce you to someone named ALICE.~ You most likely already know her. ALICE stands for Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed and she has a household income above the Federal Poverty Level, but below a basic cost-of-living threshold. These are the workers essential to every community’s success. In our area, a large number of people are living within or below the ALICE threshold.~ To learn more about how you can help, please come to the upcoming community discussion on September 1st from 6:00-8:00pm at the Lymes’ Senior Center- 26 Town Woods Road Old Lyme for a Public Pot Luck Dinner & Conversation to discuss affordable housing needs in the community.
