Ingenious Ways to Train your Brain.   Join us on Friday, April 15th at 1:00pm and learn Ingenious Ways to Train our Brain.  Ingenious Ways to Train our Brains Healthy will be led by Laura Kokoska RN.  This program will include games and exercises that stimulate our minds and light movement.  She will show us how healthy aging can be achieved and how to grow new brain cells and make more connections between them. Rose City Senior Center Community Yard Sale Fundraiser

Clean out your garage and attic because it’s time for a yard sale! Our parking lot will become one giant multi-seller yard sale and is sure to attract lots of buyers! Rent a 10’x20’ or 20’x20’ space to sell your items and keep all of your profits from the event.

This is a fundraiser for the Rose City Senior Center.

MOBILE MEMORY CLINIC

Health & Wellness

Diane Palmer, RN, QDCS, Dementia Care Specialist, certified by the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America will be conducting a Mobile Memory Clinic on Wed, March 30th from 9:30am to 11:30am. Appointments are required. Please call beginning March 1st.

In addition, Mary Lou Ganotti, PR Director for Coastal Research Studies will hold a presentation on current Alzheimer’s research regarding the Starbeam study.

Free but registration is required.

A great opportunity to visit Boston for some fantastic sightseeing, fun shopping and wonderful restaurants. Your drop off and pickup location will be next to Fenway Park on Ipswich Street. With multiple restaurants in the area, you will have a hard time choosing where to eat!

The sights within one mile walking distance include Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Boston Symphony Hall and the Prudential Center which is home to multiple shops and restaurants. Feeling more adventurous? Jump on the “T” (Boston subway) and your Boston sights to visit are endless!

Enjoy a great afternoon watching the Boston Red Sox play the Chicago White Sox at Historic Fenway Park. Great seat location on the 3rd base side in Grandstand section 31. These seats are located under an overhang (so no sitting in the sun) and have an awesome view of the action on the field!

Our coach bus will drop us off and pick us up right next to Fenway Park. We will arrive with enough time for you to enjoy lunch at one of the many local restaurants outside of Fenway or in plenty of time to watch all the warm-up action on the field before the game. (Game time 1:35 p.m.)

A Journey to the Gallows

A Book Discussion with authors Vic Butsch and Tommy Coletti

Join us as local authors Vic Butsch and Tommy Coletti present their historical fictional novel, A Journey to the Gallows, which tells the story of Connecticut native Aaron Dwight Stevens, a slavery abolitionist from the pre-Civil War era.

Aaron Dwight Stevens, an ill-tempered, zealous and noble young man is an often overlooked American hero. Born in Lisbon and raised in Norwich, Dwight Stevens left home at the age of 16 to act on his convictions. He ventured near and far, and ultimately, woke the nation up to the start of a new chapter in America’s history- the end of slavery.

In this gripping novel, Butsch and Coletti tell the realistic tales of Dwight Stevens’ journey with his joining the First Massachusetts Regiment to fight the war against Mexico; his enlistment into the First Dragoons (Cavalry) serving on the Western frontier; joining with John Brown and the Kansas militia to fight against slavery during Bloody Kansas and the raid on Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Paired with the emotional credence of Dwight Stevens’ beliefs, and the unwavering devotion of his fellow abolitionists, A Journey to the Gallows brings history to life in the most entertaining way.

Following lunch, a short ride will bring you to the beautiful Goodspeed Opera House for the 2:00 p.m. matinee performance of Cole Porter’s musical – Anything Goes! Set along the tranquil Connecticut River, the Goodspeed Opera House was built in 1876 by William Goodspeed. This intimate theater brings you closer to the excitement of live musicals and will delight, inspire and entertain you with their shows!

Anything Goes ~ Bon voyage! Set sail on a “de-lovely” cruise through some of Cole Porter’s most famous songs. A brassy nightclub singer, a starry-eyed stowaway and Public Enemy No. 13 are booked on a transatlantic luxury liner bound for romance and laughter. Hum along with an easy-to-love score packed with hits including “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “You’re the Top,” “It’s De-Lovely,” “Blow, Gabriel, Blow” and more! This tap-happy classic docks at Goodspeed for the first time. A sure hit!
