July 2016 NYC and On Your Own insert_page4_image1Let us do the driving and you plan your day!  A great opportunity to start (or finish!) your holiday shopping or just enjoy all the endless sights New York City as to offer.  Be amazed at the Winter Wonderland the city transforms into at the Holidays!  With endless restaurants, cafés and bakeries, you will not leave hungry!  Your drop off and pick up location will be near Radio City Music Hall.

The sights within walking distance are countless, but just to name a few…St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Museum of Modern Art, Madame Tussaud’s, NBC Studio, Time Square, and of course Rockefeller Center to see ice skating and the amazing Rockefeller Center Christmas tree!  And don’t forget to check out some of the amazing Holiday Window Displays throughout the city!  A magical time of year to visit New York City!

This year is the 100th anniversary of The Big E Fair!  The Big E is the largest fair in New England with great fun and entertainment such as, The Big E Super Circus, the Avenue of States, Storrowton Village Museum, Farm-A-Rama, the Daily Parade, plus an array of exhibits, rides, shopping, crafts, and TONS of foods.  Don’t forget to try The Big E Cream Puff or The Big Éclair!  Opening Day at The Big E is also Military Appreciation Day!

COST: $70 per person includes roundtrip motorcoach, fabulous buffet lunch, matinee performance of “A Whole Lotta Cheatin’ Going On”, and cabaret show. Driver tip is not included.

Voices 2016-07 pg 5_page1_image2First stop will be for lunch at Captain Scott’s Lobster Dock in New London.  This casual, outdoor restaurant is a local summer favorite for seafood lovers!  They offer the freshest seafood at reasonable prices.  Not a seafood lover?  They also offer hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken sandwiches.  Captain Scott’s is located right on the water with beautiful views of downtown New London and Shaw’s Cove Marinas. (Please note: Dining is outdoors with a covered seating area available).

Voices 2016-07 pg 5_page1_image3After lunch a short ride will bring you to Historic Downtown Mystic.  Here you will have time on your own to explore over 40 specialty shop, boutiques and galleries.  You can also visit Mystic Museum of Art to enjoy the current art exhibit or just sit by the water at Mystic River Park with views of the Mystic River Bascule Bridge and enjoy the day.  In the mood for a sweet treat?  Be sure to head over to Mystic Sweets Shoppe, Lis’ Bake Shop or Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream before you leave!

Join us for some good food and great fun . . . Country Style! With “Chef Mike” working the grill, it’s an event not to be missed! The menu includes BBQ chicken legs, hot dogs, salads, chips, drinks and dessert. Following the picnic, stay for Country Western musical entertainment performed by Clayton Allen.

Lions Scholarship Benefit

On August 4th at 6:00pm we will have the Lions Club selling Hot Dogs, Hamburgers and other food items to benefit their Scholarship Fund.  Come for dinner and stay for the concert!!

Summer Concert: Doo-Wop Revue

FREE SUMMER CONCERT SERIES: THE CORVETTES DOO-WOP REVUE BAND Join us on July 7t at 7:00pm. All ages welcome!!  Bring your chairs, blankets, dinner, etc. the performances will be held out on the lawn (weather permitting) or inside if the weather is inclement.  A free ice cream social sponsored by the Old Lyme Democratic Town Committee will follow.
