If you are a senior or disabled resident in the Town of Montville and will be spending the Holiday alone, please call and sign up for our Christmas Hot Home-Cooked Dinner. Enjoy a wonderful Baked Ham Dinner with all the fixings!

If you or someone you know is in need of a Holiday Food Basket with Turkey and all the fixings, plus many other food staples, please call the Montville Senior Center @ #860-848-0422. Please call to sign up for our FOOD Baskets for
this Christmas Holiday. Don’t miss out, let us help you enjoy the holidays.

Last day to sign up is Wednesday, December 13th. Our Baskets will be distributed on Saturday, December 16th from 9:00– 12:00 a.m. Must sign up to receive a basket.

Books on Tape

Did you know that the Senior Center has Books on Tape (CD’s) for people to borrow?  Check out the selection in the Library if you are interested!

 

Yarn Needed

Our Volunteer Knitting group is in need of yarn donations.  All items made by the group are donated to local need-based organizations.

Seniors Support Group Proposal

Are you interested in talking with your peers about your experiences with health concerns, relationships, or loneliness?  In this support group, Senior Center Members can share fears and frustrations, receive support without judgment, and be reassured that others share similar problems.  This group will provide an outlet for you to talk about your feelings that sometimes friends and family members who are not in the same situation may not fully understand.

If there is enough interest in starting this support group, it will meet on Wednesdays at 10:00a.m. and will be limited to 10 seniors.  Seniors Support Group will be led by Kerri Redner, LCSW, RYT, C-MI

Pickleball Courts Winter Useage

If the weather outside isn’t too frightful, our outdoor Pickleball Courts are still open! 

► Courts will be for the exclusive use of Senior Center Members during our normal business hours (Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.)

► After 4 p.m. and on the weekends, courts will be open to the general public until 10 p.m.

► Please remember to scan-in prior to using the courts so we can track usage.

► Senior Center Members may borrow paddles and balls during hours we are open.

► Courts will be reserved at certain times for Senior Center classes (times will be posted),otherwise courts are open on a first-come, first-served basis.

► When courts are full, please limit play or rotate games/players.

► Please wear proper footwear while playing and show good sportsmanship.

► Courts to be used for Pickleball only.

Use Pickleball Courts at your own risk.

 

Voices Newsletter Home Delivery

$8 for a year if you sign up or renew by Dec. 29th.

Starting in January, cost will increase to $11 for a year.

Trip: Boston Holiday Pops at Symphony Hall

Friday, December 15th

9:15 AM Depart Rose City Senior Center, 8 Mahan Drive, Norwich

8:00 PM Approximate return time to Norwich

 

Join us for a festive day in Boston!  Our drop off location will be at the Prudential Center where you will have time on your own for lunch, shopping and taking in the sights of the season.  Next, make your way to Symphony Hall for the 3:00 p.m. performance of Boston Pops’ Holiday Pops.  (You can either walk the 1/3 mile to Symphony Hall or meet our bus to drop packages and get a ride.)

Celebrate the most wonderful time of the year!  The Boston Pops’ Holiday Pops concert is a festive feast for the eyes, ears and soul.  This time-honored production, led by conductor Keith Lockhart, is filled with Yuletide cheer, bolstered by upbeat arrangements of classic carols and popular Christmas songs, a joyful sing-along and a visit from the one and only St. Nick himself!

These amazing concerts take place in the magical atmosphere of the world-famous Symphony Hall, beautifully decorated for the holidays to evoke all the magic and charm of the season.  Symphony Hall opened in 1900 and is, acoustically, one of the top three concert halls in the world.

COST: $90 per person includes charter bus transportation and center second balcony ticket to Holiday Pops 3:00 p.m. performance.  Driver tip not included.
