Pass Class

Tai Chi is a system of exercise based on Chinese Internal Martial Arts. The techniques and practice are circulare in nature, soft, slow and continuous. This class is does Qi Gong (Chinese Health Giving Exercises) and Tai Chi Forms. Sometimes equated to “mediation in motion” Tai Chi practice is not strenuous and promotes calm, fluidity and balance. A chair can be used to assist with balance. Please bring water and wear comfortable clothing and shoes that will not stick to the wooden floor.

How To Relieve Hand Arthritis

Join Mary Jane Fegan, DPT from Rehab Concepts Physical Therapy on February 19th at 1:00 pm for a presentation on managing hand arthritis.  Learn about risk factors and practical advice on ways to alleviate the symptoms of hand arthritis.

6 Week Tap Dancing Class – New Session

On Thursday, February 18th at 10:00 am we will be starting a new session of our 6 Week Tap Dancing Class.  This program will be taught by Bethany Haslam, owner of The Dance Center of Old Lyme. With 30 years of dancing experience in addition to choreographing over 20 shows and musicals, Bethany comes well qualified.  The six week class will cost $24.00 for the six week class.  Money will be due at the first class.  Preregistration is suggested as class size is limited to twelve people. Participants will need to bring tap shoes.  This class is open to all members.  For more information about this class or to register call (860)434-1605 ext. 240.   

Yoga for Active Adults: New Session

Yoga for Active Adults Class- NEW SESSION
Start the New Year out right; join us for a 6 week Yoga for Active Adults Class which will be held at 4:30pm on Wednesdays new session begins on February 17th.  Pre-sign up is required.  The cost of the class will be $24.00 which will be due to the instructor at the first class and you will need to bring your own mat.  Call to register. Movie: Ant Man

On February 16th at 1:00pm join us for the new movie “Ant Man” which was just released to video.  This movie is one of the top grossing movies of 2015.  This comedy will be shown in closed caption.

Bank run

is offered every Friday morning to banks in Groton.

ADA Transportation

ECTC provides this transportation for any person with a disability to any location.  $2.50 one way fee.

Municipal Medical Transportation

this is a grant funded program by the state DOT.  Eastern Connecticut Transportation Consortium (ECTC) brokers transportation services for medical appointments for seniors and persons with disabilities.  13 free round trip rides are available per year.  Caregiver Mileage Reimbursement program is available for family members or friends who drive seniors or persons with disabilities to medical appointments.

Grocery Shopping

is available on Wednesday mornings and afternoons.  Stores are rotated.  $2.00 fee

Volunteer Drivers

Volunteer drivers are available upon request when a senior is unable to use the Center’s transportation for medical appointments, nursing home visits due to overbooking or locations out of our service area.
