MISSION STATEMENT

To offer recreational, educational, social, health, and human service programs which are designed to foster independence and community involvement for persons age 55 and older.

The Norwich Senior Center was established in 1974. After the construction of the new building in 1994, the name was changed to the Rose City Senior Center. The City of Norwich, Community Development, Senior Resources—Agency on Aging, and other state and local grants provide funding.

HOURS OF OPERATION

The Senior Center is open 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Please note that City Hall and many other departments are generally open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.

INCLEMENT WEATHER NOTICE

The Country Jamboree Band

On Friday, September 18th, the Senior Centers of SECT present The Country Jamboree Band – music of Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Tammy Wynette, & many more.  Come join us at the Port-n-Starboard at Ocean Beach in New London.  The doors open at 11:30am with lunch being served at 12pm.  Choice of entree and a cash bar.  Music will start at 1pm.  Event fee is $25pp and checks are to be made to “Senior Resources”.

Fall Luncheon 2015

When you come in for class next week, don’t forget to sign up for our Fall Luncheon on Tuesday, Sept 15th at 11:30 am with Karen Wagner performing a musical walk down memory lane featuring hits from the 40’s to Broadway to Inspirational songs.  Be sure to register by Friday, September 11th.   Price is $13.50 per person.

It Is Back To School Time And We Need To Take Attendance!

Please sign in every day as it helps us with attendance recording which then allows us to better serve you. Attendance into the Senior Center and classes is extremely important. Rooms are booked on class attendance so the importance cannot be stressed enough on swiping in. Here is a quick refresher:

  • Everything on the touch screen is in time order.
  • Always swipe Daily Sign In please.
  • Once, you log in, each activity you touch will turn yellow with a check mark for your attendance.
  • There are multiple pages so please continue by hitting next page until you have logged all your class attendance/activities for that day.
  • Having lunch? Please be sure to hit the lunch button as well.
  • If you have questions on logging in please ask the front desk for assistance.

Beginning at noon

Join us for some good food, great fun and fabulous entertainment!  With “Chef Mike” working the grill, it’s an event not to be missed!  Enjoy a great meal with great friends!  Sure to be a fun time!

Menu: Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Salads, Chips, Drinks and Dessert.

(Chicken Burger can be substituted, but must be requested at sign up.)

$7 per person.  Tickets available at reception starting on July 15st.  Payment due at sign up.
