Thrive55+ Active Living Center (powered by Groton Senior Center) is the premiere location for nutrition, health and technology and recreational classes, special events and trips, transportation, information and referral services for Groton residents 55 years and older. Programs in health, computers/technology, finance, fitness, art, enrichment and more are offered year-round and there are special events constantly throughout the year. We are active, social and involved and welcome all not only Groton residents. WALK with EASE- Monday, Wednesday and Friday

This class has been brought to the GSC through the Arthritis Foundation and encourages participants to embrace walking as a means for consistent exercise that everyone can commit to. Workbook and curriculum are included with this class equipping our members with the tools and knowledge they need to become successful walkers.

Zumba Gold Toning- Mondays and Fridays

Monday Time: 6:10pm to 7:10pm

Friday Time: 11:45am to 12:45pm

 Tailored for active adults who want to focus on muscle conditioning and light weight activity.  How it works – blends the Zumba party you love at a slower pace with a redefining total body workout using Zumba Toning Sticks to shake up those muscles!

FEE: $28 Resident and $38 Non-Resident

Fitness Room – Annual Membership

This is a non-monitored room with stationary bikes, treadmills, Airdyne bikes, recumbent bike and Cardioglide. In order to use the room, a physician clearance form is required and appointments with our personal trainer orient the client to the fitness equipment and develop an exercise plan. There is a fee for the orientation with a trainer and then an annual fee due every July 1 or upon completion of training to use the Fitness Room.   The fitness room is open 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Monday through Friday.

Cost: $72 resident and $82 non-residents

BOOM Move- Tuesday and Thursday

Time: 9:00am to 10:00am

Cost: $40 resident/ $50 Non-Resident

Senior Karate I- Mondays and Wednesdays

Time: 9:00am to 9:45am

Martial arts for seniors focuses on improving stamina and endurance, maintaining physical safety, and even promoting mental acuity.

This program promotes positive personal development of the student. This class is an introduction to traditional karate-do taught in a safe and structured manner which will cater to every students personal needs. Students will learn basic karate technique which will strengthen them mentally as well as physically. Mobility and stretching will be a consistent part of class as well as learning fundamentals for self-protection. The cost will be $65 for 8 weeks. (that is ONLY $4 a class!)
