Groton Rotary Club Dinner Friday May 4th

Groton Rotary Club Dinner to raise funds for Scholarship fund takes place Friday, May 4th at Groton Senior Center.

Join us for this evening dinner to benefit Groton Rotary Club Academic Scholarship Fund. 2018 Rotary scholar awards of $2,000 will be given to three graduating seniors from any of the Groton high schools: Robert E. Fitch High School, Ella T. Grasso Southeastern Technical High School, or the Marine Science Magnet High School. The fundraising dinner takes place MAY 4TH 2018 at 5 pm. The cost is only $6.00 per person. Menu is BBQ Pork ribs, mac and cheese, green beans, corn bread and dessert.

Get REAL incentives and rewards for taking small steps that can improve your well-being. Learn to be your own advocate.
Meet new friends, provide support and encouragement to your peers, and become more involved in your community.

National Trails Day is Saturday, June 2, 2018

American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day (NTD) is a celebration of America’s magnificent trail system, occurring annually on the first Saturday in June. NTD features a series of outdoor activities, designed to promote and celebrate the importance of trails in the United States.

Groton is celebrating with a Cross Trails Hike Saturday, June 2, 2018 9:30 AM.

Cross-Town Trail (6 miles) sponsored by Groton Open Space Association- GOSAAvalonia Land Conservancy, Inc, Inc and Town of Groton Parks and Recreation.

Join us for a moderately paced hike across Groton from Avalonia Land Conservancy’s “Town’s End” on Beebe Cove and the Mystic River, to Groton’s Beebe Pond Park, continuing over the ridge on GOSA’s Merritt Family Forest, through Groton’s Mortimer Wright Preserve, across RT 215 to Haley Farm State Park, past Palmer and Mumford Coves, and across the railroad bridge to Bluff Point and the Poquonnock River.

Meet at the Bluff Point State Park parking lot. Please arrive a little early for a prompt departure. A bus provided by the Groton Parks and Recreation will take us to the start. Participants are responsible for a beverage, snacks (no water available along the way.) Toilet facilities are available at Bluff Point and Haley Farm. Wear sturdy shoes and take tick precautions. Rain cancels.
