Wednesday, September 4th- Norwich Flea & Tick Collar Clinic

Provided by The Connecticut Humane Society.  Appointments NOT needed.  No Cost.

Who can attend this clinic? Any pet owner in New London County (and their dog or cat).

What will be provided to dogs or cats at this clinic? Free Seresto flea & tick collar for up to 2 pets. These collars protect dogs and cats for 8 months against fleas and ticks.

Do I need to bring my pet(s) with me? Yes! Pets must be present at the clinic and must be older than 12 weeks to receive a collar.

Is there a limit to the number of pets I bring? Each family is limited to 2 pets. Only dogs and cats will be seen. All dogs must be leashed and all cats must be in carriers.

We reserve the right to refuse sick, pregnant, or aggressive pets.

Do I need an appointment? No. Free collars will be given out from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Where is the clinic held? The clinic will be held at the Rose City Senior Center (Art Room).

Thursday, October 3rd- Nature Prints Art Class

Learn to print using leaves, flowers and ferns.  You must provide your own t-shirt, tea-towel, placemat or apron which you will be using to print on.  Please bring only one item and make sure it is cotton or a cotton blend with a smooth surface (no terry cloth)  All other supplies will be provided.  Please bring an old apron or shirt to cover up with.  Class instructed by Liz Popinchalk.
You must sign up in order to take this class.  Class size is limited to 10 people.

Wednesday, December 18th- December Day Long Trip: “A Christmas Cactus” Newport Playhouse & Cabaret Theater, Newport, RI

This trip is open to any adult, 18 years old and older.  This trip is Minimal walking.

Start with a delicious buffet luncheon with all foods prepared on the premises.

Following lunch enjoy the hilarious Matinee performance of A Christmas Cactus!

Christmas Eve is tough for private investigator Cactus O’Riley, a white hot redhead with the holiday blues. She doesn’t need the added aggravation of two fugitives who burst into her office looking for justice and a dead detective named Jake Marley.  Christmas turns into a dickens of a holiday for Cactus as she solves mysteries, delivers small miracles and takes a second chance on love and sleuthing.  Comedy, mystery, and romance converge in this charming contemporary Christmas tale where goodwill and justice triumph!

Following the Matinee, return to your seat in the dining room for a holiday themed Cabaret Show!

COST: $75 per person includes roundtrip motorcoach, fabulous buffet lunch, matinee performance of “A Christmas Cactus”, and cabaret show.  Driver tip is not included.

Wednesday, November 20th: November Day-Long Trip- The Price is Right LIVE! at Foxwoods Casino

Trip is open to any adult, 18 years and older.  This trip is Moderate walking.

The Price Is Right Live is the hit interactive stage show that gives eligible individuals the chance to hear their names called and “Come On Down” to win!  Prizes may include appliances, vacations and possibly a new car!  Play classic games just like on television’s longest running and most popular game show…from Plinko to Cliffhangers to The Big Wheel and even the fabulous Showcase.

Playing to near sold-out audiences for more than 14 years, the Price Is Right Live has entertained millions of guests and given away more than 12 million dollars in cash and prizes.

If you’re a fan of The Price Is Right on TV, you’ll no doubt love this exciting, live, on-stage version of the show!! (This on stage, live show is non-televised).

You will also be given a Festival Buffet food voucher and $10 in bonus slot play! 

A Foxwoods Rewards Card or photo ID is required to receive the buffet and slot bonus.

Sponsored by the Norwich Commission for Persons with Disabilities.

​This event presents an opportunity to discuss with municipal employees the ways in which City services and programs are accessible to people with disabilities.  Bring questions and comments.  The Municipal Roundtable is part of the City of Norwich Disability Awareness Week, October 7 -12, 2019.

Parkinson’s Support Group- 4th Monday of the Month

People with Parkinson’s, family members, and friends are invited to join this support group to learn about resources and share information.  The group will meet every fourth Monday of the month at 11:30 a.m.  This group is sponsored by the American Parkinson Disease Association.

Thursday, September 26th: Lymphedema- Presented by Jamie Picone, PTA,CLT, Hartford Hospital Rehabilitation Network

Time: 10:00am

The World Health Organization estimates that over 250 million people worldwide live with Lymphedema or chronic swelling.  It is a disease that can cause pain, limit our mobility and
cause us to be insecure about ourselves.  Join a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) from Hartford HealthCare Rehabilitation to learn more about the causes and effects of swelling, ways to manage it and how participation in skilled Physical and Occupational Therapy can help.

Renter’s Rebate Program

A program for low income elderly (65+) or disabled individuals who have rented in CT in 2018 and have not applied for the homeowners Circuit Breaker Program.  Program open through October 1, 2019.

Income Limits:
Single: $36,000 yearly or less
Couple: $43,900 yearly or less
