Our Senior Center Transportation Information

The Ledyard Senior Center offers daily transportation to the Center for activities including lunch, along with rides to medical appointments and other necessities according to the schedule below.  All individuals using our transportation must complete an annual transportation form. A wheelchair lift is available. Please be aware that the Senior Center does not provide assistance to and from the vehicle. 

Persons must be able to: Travel without assistance, wait outside for 10 minutes, climb three 12-inch steps or use the wheelchair lift. 

The Senior Center cannot  provide rides home from a medical appointment/procedure that involves general anesthetics. We service Ledyard & Gales Ferry residents to any appointment within New London County, which also includes:  New London, Groton, Mystic, Waterford, Norwich, Franklin. Call for details.

MONDAY        Medical Appointment Day—Senior Center, Community Café for Breakfast/Lunch   TUESDAY (*)  Medical Appointment Day—Senior Center, Community Café for BREAKFAST BUFFET $7.00 Lunch   (*)  If time allows, we will provide transportation to Aldi’s & BIg Y for shopping in the afternoon.

WEDNESDAY Senior Center, CURB SIDE/CAFÉ SPECIAL LUNCHES $10.00 @12:00

THURSDAY    Medical Appointment Day—Senior Center, Community Café for Breakfast/Lunch

FRIDAY           Senior Center, Grocery Shopping Stop & Shop & Walmart, Community Café for Lunch, Bank Runs

Friday—Shopping runs to Stop & Shop, and Walmart 

Medical Appointments must be made between 9:00 and 1:00.  We provide transportation for medicals on

Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays only. 

All reservations for transportation must be made at least 48 hours in advance by calling the office between 9:00 a.m. and 4;00 p.m. and talking to a staff person. Requests for transportation giving less than 48 hours notice will be addressed on a case by case basis. 

Drivers can not schedule appointments. *Bank runs and shopping require reservations in advance*

Round trip donations are $1.00 within Ledyard and Gales Ferry and $2.00 for out of town. We provide transportation to Sub Base medical appointments and the pharmacy for people with a Military/Base I.D.

*Driver routes are planned in advance.  Unscheduled stops and pick-ups are not permitted. 

Please refrain from requesting any impromptu stops.*

RONALD MACDONALD POP TOP PROGRAM

Anyone can collect pop tabs, and that’s what makes this program so great! It’s an easy way to help the families who call RMHCA home, and we hope you’ll think of them whenever you recycle a pop tab. Collect your pop tabs!  Bring to Ledyard Senior  Center

Did you know that the Thrive 55+ volunteers gave a total of 10,613 hours in 2024?!
Thrive 55+ currently has 240 volunteers and 14 self-led volunteer committees. Our volunteers help out in many capacities such as being on committees, special events, tech center, Club 55, cove baristas, ambassadors, community service, gardening, clerical, front desk, special projects, community sewing projects, special events and much more!
