Household Hazardous Waste Collection & Paper Shredding- Saturday, June 18th from 9:00-1:00pm

Location: Norwich Public Works – 50 Clinton Ave.

The Southeastern Connecticut Regional Resource Recovery Authority (SCRRRA) will be at Norwich Public Works in June to collect household hazardous waste and offer confidential paper shredding.

Items that will be collected include: latex & oil paint, stains & varnish, paint thinner, oven cleaner, kerosene, old gasoline, light bulbs, home batteries, insecticides, fungicides, pool chemicals and more!

Garden Volunteers Needed!

We are looking for volunteers to help the Senior Center gardeners with weeding and watering in the outdoor vegetable garden.  This volunteer position requires standing, bending, squatting, etc. in order to get the job done.  Gardening experience is not required but may be helpful.  You will work under the direction of the Senior Center gardeners.  Gardening help is needed June – September, 1 or 2 days per week.

This volunteer position is open to Senior Center Members only.

Free To A Good Home

We have some items that are looking for a new homePreference will be given to Senior Center Members or a Senior in Norwich.  Items need to be picked up during our regular hours of operation.

  • VHS Tapes – 8-9 medium sized boxes of VHS tape movies. Must take ALL boxes.
  • Brown Faux Leather Club Style Chair – in good, used condition. Reclines.  Could use a bit of a cleaning, but not much.  Seat height 20”, seat width 21 ½”, overall height 39”, overall width 36”

Preference will be given to a senior in need, who would have financial difficulty purchasing one.

Mahjong- Wednesdays at 12:30pm

The Mahjong group is looking for more players!  Some knowledge of how the game is played is helpful, as this group is more advanced.  Stop by on a Wednesday if you are interested in joining.

 

Zumba Gold- Mondays from 5:30 to 6:30pm

Must be 60+ to participate, please call the office during regular office hours to sign up! #860-848-0422. ZUMBA GOLD is  specifically designed for senior citizens. Zumba Gold is the lower impact, easy-to -follow, Latin-inspired dance fitness class that will help keep you healthy & happy while having lots of fun!
