Adopt-A-Family

Norwich Human Services and Norwich Youth and Family Services are seeking individuals and organizations that are willing to adopt one or more families for our “Adopt-A-Family” program this Holiday season.  All Families are from the Norwich area, have been screened by a case manager, are known to be in need and most are living below the poverty level.

Thanks to the kind and generous support in the past by individuals and organizations such as you, we are able to make holidays more joyful for many young children in the community.  If you or your organization would be willing to adopt at least one family, we would greatly appreciate your support.

You may contact us at (860) 823-3778 or by email at NHS@cityofnorwich.org

Please indicate the family size you would be willing to sponsor.  You or your organization will then be sent information about a family in need.  The information will include the first names, ages, sizes and special interests of each family member.

Please consider sharing this request with your family and friends to help us identify new sponsors.

Thank you!  Your kindness will not be forgotten.

New Medicare Cards Are Coming

The Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) Services will be mailing out new Medicare cards to all current Medicare beneficiaries.  The roll out for Connecticut residents will begin in June 2018.  CMS hopes to have all new Medicare cards mailed out to beneficiaries by April 2019.  The card will have a new claim number (will no longer be social security numbers) and will look slightly different.  Once you receive your new card, you can begin using it immediately for

your medical services.  All cards will be mailed to the address that Social Security has on file.  If your address has changed, please contact Social Security Administration to update.

* SCAM ALERT*

With the roll out of new Medicare cards, scammers are up to their old tricks.  Phone calls are being made to Medicare beneficiaries stating that in order for new cards to be received, personal information is needed (ie: social security numbers, identity information, etc.).  Please be aware that neither Medicare nor CMS are making any calls to Medicare beneficiaries in order to process new cards.
