Renter’s Rebate Program

A program for low income elderly (65+) or disabled individuals who have rented in CT in 2017 and have not applied for the homeowners Circuit Breaker Program.  Program open through October 1, 2018.

Income Limits:

Single: $35,300 yearly or less    Couple: $43,000 yearly or less

Appointments are Needed

Norwich residents, 55 and older please call the Rose City Senior Center at (860) 889-5960.

If you are under 55 and a Norwich resident, call Norwich Human Services at (860) 823-3778.

If you reside in Senior Housing, please contact your

 Resident Services Coordinator for an appointment at your housing complex.

 

Farmer’s Market Coupons

Will be distributed on: Wednesday, July 18th from 9:00 a.m. – Noon

Farmer’s Market coupons are available to low income seniors who meet certain eligibility requirements.

You must meet the following Eligibility Requirements in order to receive a coupon booklet:

¨ You must be 60 years or older

¨ Yearly income not to exceed $22,459 for single or $30,451 for couple

¨ Must be participating in another need based program that verifies income eligibility such as Renter’s Rebate, Congregate Meal Program, Medicaid, SNAP (Foodstamps), etc.

¨ You must be a resident of the town you receive the coupon booklet from.

¨ If you are under 60 and disabled you must meet all other eligibility requirements and live in subsidized housing to be eligible

 

Thursday, June 28th- Senior Foot Care Clinic

New London Senior Center and Visiting Nurses Association are partnering to provide free foot care to New London seniors once per month. Please call for more information and to reserve an appointment!

 

 

Senior Center Medical Transporation

Medical Transportation Only is free.
You must call within 24-48 hour notice prior to your appointment.

Monday and Wednesday 9:00am – 1:30pm.

Tuesday and Thursday  9:00am – 11:30pm

Fridays from 9:00 am – 11:oo am. (Local Only)

Renter’s Rebate Program

TAX RELIEF FOR ELDERLY AND TOTALLY DISABLED RENTERS

The Renter Rebate Program through the State of CT provides a rebate for renters who are elderly or disabled. Applications for the Renters Rebate Program are available starting April 1st and ending October 1st. Please call the Senior Center for an appointment.  In order to receive a renter rebate:

  1. An applicant or the spouse must be 65 or older; or be 100% disabled (per Social Security);

or be 50 and a surviving spouse.

  1. Must have lived in Connecticut for 1 year.
  2. Total 2017 income which includes Social Security must not exceed:

Married $43,000

Single $35,300

  1. Thirty-five percent of the applicant’s annual rent must exceed 5% of the applicant’s income.

Proof of income received and rent and utility payments made in calendar year 2017 must be provided.

If you collect Social Security, you must provide your SSA1099 for 2017.
