Trip: Perkins Cove in Ogunquit, ME

Saturday, August 19th

It’s a short ride aboard our motorcoach before we arrive in Perkins Cove, nestled within southern Maine’s rocky coastline.   Get a firsthand lobstering experience while sailing aboard a lobster boat, where you will see traps hauled and lobsters caught by authentic lobstermen.   A guide will provide an explanation of the lobster fishery and the many scenic points along the coastline.   When back on land there is the opportunity to explore one of the loveliest harbors on the Maine coast and it’s myriad of galleries, shops, and boutiques.   Listen to the gulls and the bell buoys as you have lunch at one of the many waterfront eateries (meal not included in the tour price).   Stroll the Marginal Way, a paved footpath that meanders along the Atlantic Ocean.   We will also make a stop at the Nubble Lighthouse.   There is no access to the lighthouse itself, but the views from our vantage point are spectacular.

NOTE:  Buses are prohibited from traveling into Perkins Cove, so it will be necessary to disembark in a nearby lot.   The walk to and from Perkins Cove is about a quarter of a mile along level, paved ground.
