Drumming With Doug

Tuesday, May 2nd from 3:00-4:00pm

 

Play a drum! Create easy rhythms! Connect with others! No experience necessary. Some drums available for use. Experience a fun, therapeutic drum program for all abilities that energizes you while relieving depression, stress and tension. Join Percussionist Doug Sabino the first Tue of each month for a fun, hand drumming program.

No fee required. Space is limited. Registration is now open.

Grief Support Group

The loss of a spouse or partner is often one of the hardest losses we will encounter. Our lives turn upside down. You ask yourself, “How will I survive and feel all alone?” You are not alone. This group will offer a safe and private space for you to learn from others and understand that there are others sharing this similar experience. The group is peer to peer support with a trained peer facilitator from the Brian Dagle Foundation. This group meets the first Tue of each month at the Senior Center. Please register with the Senior Center.

AARP Mature Driver Safety Class

Wednesday, May 3rd from 9:15am-1:15pm

 

The AARP Smart Driver course is the nation’s first refresher course specifically
designed for drivers age 50 and older. In many states, drivers may benefit from a discount on their auto insurance premium upon completing the course. Contact your insurance company to find out. And you will learn something new along the way. In fact, an evaluation of the course found that 97% of participants changed at least one driving habit as a result of what they learned.

$20 for AARP member $25 for non-AARP member

Exercise For Healthy & Active Aging

Exercise physiologist, George Norden, has been working in the field of medical
exercise for over 10 years. In this 60 minute presentation, he will share common misconceptions of strength training as we age, how to do it safely and effectively regardless of physical limitations, and how to optimize results from an exercise program to improve strength, balance, energy and overall functionality.

Care & Share of East Lyme, Inc. is an all-volunteer organization that provides resources for individuals and families in East Lyme, Niantic and Salem. The resources can be food, financial and/or emergency support. The President, Patricia Payne, will be sharing with us the many programs Care & Share offer to our residents.
