The community gives to us; Dining Out is our way of giving back to the community. An evening outing of dining, socializing, and enjoyment!
Each month one special restaurant will be featured. Our van will pick you up or you can meet us there. Each person pays their own tab at the restaurant. Order a full entrée or just appetizers.

Are You Crafty? Fairy House Project
We want crafty people to help us- please!
Wednesdays, July 20, August 10 and 24 10:30 am -12:00 pm
Crafters Wanted! If you enjoy crafting yet might not have the space or reason; this could be for you! Fairy houses are made from nature, so items that are found in the yard are going to work. Come volunteer and craft a Fairy House to be donated to our LUMINARI WALK event to fundraise for Groton Parks Foundation. This community event will take place on Saturday, October 22 evening at the Copp Family Park.
Fairy Houses will first be featured in our center shop, they will decorate our LUMINARI WALK trail and then finally they will be auctioned at the event. We need to know how many to expect – please sign up.
Day trip: Saratoga Races Wednesday, July 20th
And we’re off to the races! Step back into history a the Saratoga Race Course and place your bets while you watch the races in style.
Your price includes: Roundtrip transportation on a premium motor coach with driver gratuity included plus Reserved Grandstand seating at Saratoga Race Course- Cheer on your favorite horses from the covered grandstand. We plan to depart at 7:00 am with a approx. return time of 9:30 pm. $87 per resident/ $97 per non resident.

UPCOMING HIKES: WATCH ROCK PRESERVE
August 11 – Watch Rock Preserve. Joel Road, Old Lyme. Meet at the parking lot. Walk along rocky outcroppings on the water with beautiful views of the salt marshes. Bring your binoculars. We will take our time. 1 mile.
Painting Birds and Butterflies
Painting Birds and Butterflies – August 8, 15 – Mondays 1-3pm – 2 weeks ($14.00)
Working from photo references students will use these brilliantly colored creatures as the main subject in small sized paintings. Learning to paint clean and precise will be the lesson here.

Country Line Dancing
Monday’s from 9:15-10:15am and Wednesday’s from 1:15-2:15pm
Come have some fun learning and dancing some country line dances! We will offer two Country Line Dancing Classes at the Center. Enjoy some exercise while country line dancing and having fun, getting healthy, and socializing with other seniors! Free, wearing comfortable clothing and come have fun!
Zentangle

Zentangle is an easy to learn method of creating beautiful images from repetitive patterns. Learn to relax (the “ZEN” part) while creating beautiful, repetitive, design work (the “TANGLE” part). You will start by using 3 ½ inch square paper “tiles”. You will learn a variety of “tangles” (patterns) and combine them in your own unique way. IT’s easy to learn, and the best part is that you don’t need to have any drawing skills to do this! Each intricate design is broken down in easy to follow steps that guarantee a successful and unique piece of art.
