Horseshoe Pits -Looking for people interested?

The Senior Center has Horseshoe Pits in the back that are currently in unusable condition.

We are thinking of repairing them but want to get an idea if people would be interested in playing.

Preventative Health Clinic with Nurse Rebecca- Wednesdays at 9:00am

Appointments are currently being scheduled on Wednesdays.

Toenail cutting and ear flushing appointments for Senior Center members are available in our Health Clinic with Nurse Rebecca Braddock.  Rebecca can provide foot care to seniors who are not on blood thinning medications or who are not a diabetic.  Rebecca will be at the Senior Center on Wednesday mornings, with appointments available from 8:15am – noon.

PODIATRY Clinic with Dr. Thomas Walter, D.P.M- First Friday of the Month

Appoinments are on the 1st Friday of each month for toenail cutting.

The cost is $15.00 per visit and an appointment is necessary.

Appointments are scheduled by calling Mike at the Senior Center at 8600-889-5960.

This program is supported by Sr. Resources Agency on Aging with Title III funds made available under the Older Americans Act.

AARP Driver Safety – Smart Driver Course (Vitrual ZOOM Class)

The AARP Smart Driver Course is currently being offered as an online class or a ZOOM class.  Consult your insurance agent for information about discounts available from taking this class.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection & Paper Shredding- Saturday, June 18th from 9:00-1:00pm

Location: Norwich Public Works – 50 Clinton Ave.

The Southeastern Connecticut Regional Resource Recovery Authority (SCRRRA) will be at Norwich Public Works in June to collect household hazardous waste and offer confidential paper shredding.

Items that will be collected include: latex & oil paint, stains & varnish, paint thinner, oven cleaner, kerosene, old gasoline, light bulbs, home batteries, insecticides, fungicides, pool chemicals and more!

Garden Volunteers Needed!

We are looking for volunteers to help the Senior Center gardeners with weeding and watering in the outdoor vegetable garden.  This volunteer position requires standing, bending, squatting, etc. in order to get the job done.  Gardening experience is not required but may be helpful.  You will work under the direction of the Senior Center gardeners.  Gardening help is needed June – September, 1 or 2 days per week.

This volunteer position is open to Senior Center Members only.
