Happy Fall Creating Paper Pumpkins, Paper Apple, and Mini Glitter Jar

By Nancy Souza, Card Maker, Mixed Media Artist and Altenew Stamp Company Certified Educator Fall is calling and it is time to create new projects to decorate, display and or share. Learn how to make a paper apple, two different paper pumpkins and create a mini glitter votive candle jar that is perfect for Fall
decorating. Basic supplies you will need- scissors and glue. Everything will be included in your craft kit.

Stamp Out Stroke

Tuesday, October 17th from 10:00am-11:00am

 

Stamp Out Stroke is a community outreach group affiliated with Yale New Haven Hospital’s Stroke Center. The group is comprised of healthcare professionals and students who volunteer with the goal to educate the New Haven and surrounding community about stroke. We focus on stroke risk factors, recognizing warning signs, and the importance of receiving prompt care. We will provide an interactive presentation followed by a Q&A session at the end. Registration begins Oct 2nd. Register by Fri, Oct 13th.

Thu, Oct 5th from 11am to 1pm at the Senior Center. 20 minute appointments
start at 11am. Free hearing test, a hearing aid check, wax inspection, and listening demos.
Register with the Senior Center.

VNASC NURSE MANAGED FOOT CLINIC

Thu, Oct 12th from 12:15pm to 3:45pm.
Routine foot care provided for a fee – $10pp.
No appointment required. No diabetics please.
Payment due at time of service.

REFLEXOLOGY
The massage will be about 20 minutes which includes a foot soak by a
Massage Therapist. $22pp upon registration. Thu, Oct 5th. Appointments start at 9am.

MANICURE – Sponsored by Pretty Nails and Spa

Tue, Oct 10th only. Starts at 8:15am. 15 minute appointments $5pp – Cut, file, shape, and polish. Register with the Senior Center.

HAIRCUTS
Haircuts by appointment offered on Thu, Oct 26th. 9:30AM – 1PM, Every 20 minutes. Cost is $15 per person (Tips are appreciated)

MASSAGE THERAPY
Massages (with clothes on) to be offered. You can reserve a 25 minute appointment for $33 or a 50 minute appointment for $66. Wed, Oct 11th & 25th from 1pm to 4pm and Thu, Oct 19th, 9am – 12pm. Eastern Connecticut Transportation Consortium (Dial A Ride) Presentation

Monday, October 23rd at 1:00pm

 

Barbara Currier will present the Municipal Grant Senior Transportation program the Caregiver Mileage reimbursement procedure for senior medical rides and the voucher program. She will explain how to register and what you may need.
Applications and forms will be available. She will also briefly touch on the paratransit available in our area and where SEAT transportation is available.

Makeup For Mature Women

Makeup For Mature Women– Tuesday, November 21st from 12:30 – 2:30– Location TBD, the Lymes’ Senior Center will be hosting a two-hour workshop with a professional makeup artist. In this workshop, you will learn how to create a makeup style that compliments your features. You will explore products, tools, and must haves for your makeup collection. This workshop will include “hands on” demonstrations. Please bring your makeup and brushes with you to the program! Cost is $10 for members, $15 for nonͲmembers. Limited capacity available, priority seating to members.

WE ARE MOVING…

As of September 30th, we will no longer be using our building to make room for our expansion and renovation. Rest assured that our programming will go on! Starting Monday, October 16th our programs will resume in multiple locations. We can still be reached by phone at (860)434-1605 ext. 240 and by email at seniorcenter@oldlymect.gov. We will have office hours starting October 16th, Monday- Friday from 2-3pm in the American Legion Room at the Old Lyme Town Hall.

Although some locations are still being decided, the programs that have confirmed locations are listed below. Please know that staff and volunteers will be on site to help you find your way. I would like to thank all the various locations for their graciousness in our time of need. Without their hospitality and cooperation, our programs & services would be severely diminished. I would also like to thank our members for their patience and flexibility.
