Drumming with Doug

Tuesday, June 6th from 3:00-4:00pm

 

Play a drum! Create easy rhythms! Connect with others! No experience necessary. Some drums available for use. Experience a fun, therapeutic drum program for all abilities that energizes you while relieving depression, stress and tension.

Join Percussionist Doug Sabino the first Tue of each month for a fun, hand drumming program. No fee required. Space is limited.

Grief Support Group

Tuesday, June 6th at 10:30am 

 

The loss of a spouse or partner is often one of the hardest losses we will encounter. Our lives turn upside down. You ask yourself, “How will I survive and feel all alone?” You are not alone. This group will offer a safe and private space for you to learn from others and understand that there are others sharing this similar experience. The group is peer to peer support with a trained peer facilitator from the Brian Dagle Foundation.

This group meets the first Tue of each month at the Senior Center.

AARP Mature Driver Safety Class

Wednesday, June 7th from 12:30-4:30pm

 

The AARP Smart Driver course is the nation’s first refresher course specifically
designed for drivers age 50 and older. In many states, drivers may benefit from a discount on their auto insurance premium upon completing the course. Contact your insurance company to find out. And you will learn something new along the way. In fact, an evaluation of the course found that 97% of participants changed at least one driving habit as a result of what they learned.

 

$20 for AARP member $25 for non-AARP member

Register with the Senior Center office. Payment due upon registration.

Summer Session Registration

SUMMER SESSION: Jul 3rd – Sept 22nd, 2023

Make Up week for classes missed will be the week of the Sept 25th

Registration for fitness classes, music classes, games, and craft
programs for the Summer Session will begin on:

  • Jun 12th for Residents
  • Jun 19th for Non-Residents.

The office opens at 8am. If you register online, we must receive payment
by the end of the next business day. Please do not call in your registration.

Registrations are not guaranteed until we receive payment.

16th Annual Celebrate 90+ Tea

Friday, June 23rd from 1:00-3:00pm

 

Come join the East Lyme Senior Center, Bridebrook Rehab & Crescent Point of
Niantic at our Annual 90+Tea. We love to honor our town’s 90 and older crowd.
Help us find them – call us if you know one. Honorees can invite 2 guests at no
charge! Everyone else is $2pp and ALL are welcome. Entertainment by William
Benson.

Make Music Day

Make Music Day – East Lyme Senior Center We, a group of acoustic guitarists who regularly play together, invite other guitar or music enthusiasts to come to play together. All are welcome. Old and young. Just bring your new or dusty guitar. Come make music with us or just come to listen!

Lunch & Learn: Men’s Health

“June is Men’s Health Month”

 

This month is all about encouraging men to take care of their health by eating
right, exercising, and working to prevent disease by seeking early detection and
treatment. Please join us to raise awareness about healthcare for men and
address diseases that disproportionately impact men as we focus on
encouraging men to practice a healthier lifestyle in observance of National Men’s Health Month. Registration preference will be given to our male members.

Ice Cream Social & Entertainment

Caution! Caution! It is an Emergency! We are so excited about summer starting, we had to call the Emergency Ice Cream truck to celebrate! And it wouldn’t be a party without entertainment. This will be an outside event, bring a chair.

Entertainer: Jeff Weiselberg

Entertainer Jeff Wieselberg will be tickling the ivories and singing catchy tunes on Wednesday, June 28th. at 1pm. Jeff Wieselberg, performing solo on piano & vocals, has a vast & varied repertoire of great old songs (mostly 1920s to 1980s), including pop, jazz, country, blues, rock & roll, show tunes, & standards from the Great American Songbook….Everything from Frank Sinatra to Billy Joel, Fats Waller to Fats Domino, the Beatles, Elton John, Motown, Neil Diamond, John Denver, & more….lots of great 50s/60s/70s oldies for listening, dancing, and singing along! This is a performance you won’t want to miss!
