Care & Share of East Lyme, Inc. is an all-volunteer organization that provides resources for individuals and families in East Lyme, Niantic and Salem. The resources can be food, financial and/or emergency support. The President, Patricia Payne, will be sharing with us the many programs Care & Share offer to our residents.

Registration begins May 1st. Please register by May 12th. $2pp.

Shred Day

Please have your ID ready and limit the amount of documents to be shredded to 2 banker boxes. Food donations will be accepted for Care & Share. Consider donating any unexpired, unopened, nonperishable food items.

Take A Walk Wednesdays: Hartman Park, Lyme

Wednesday, May 10th at 9:30am

 

Free for members, $5.00 for non-members

The walks are moderately easy unless noted. Mileage is approximate. Bring a water bottle, and dress for the weather, bug spray is suggested. Reservations are required. Inclement weather cancels.

Meet at the Main Entrance parking lot. The unique natural, historic and archeological features in Hartman Park make it a delight to explore. We will look for spring wildflowers. 2.5 miles. The parking lot is about 1.5 miles north of the intersection with Beaver Brook Rd.

Come sing-a-long with singer, entertainer and guitarist, Jack Bussman! When Bussmann first saw The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show, he asked his mom for a guitar and he has been singing, playing his guitar, and entertaining crowds throughout New England, ever since. Bussmann has also starred in such memorable stage productions as Sound of Music, Guys and Dolls, Jeykll and Hyde, and more.

Lifelong Learning Lecture: The Assasination of Abraham Lincoln

With Historian and Curator of the Mark Twain House, Mallory Howard. The assassination of President Abraham Lincoln was a tragic and unexpected event which changed the trajectory of American history and firmly cemented his place as an American hero and icon. His assassin, John Wilkes Booth, was marked as one of our country’s greatest villains and continues to live in infamy. But what about his co-conspirators? Who were they and what became of each one of them? We will take a look at the various plots against Lincoln, as well as explore the lives of the lesser known participants that led to terror, injury, and ultimately the death of one of our country’s most important leaders.
