Learn About Foster Grandparent Program

Please join us Wednesday, April 5th at 1 pm while we learn more about becoming a Foster Grandparent.

Celebrating 45 years of service to the community, our Foster Grandparent Program strives to provide meaningful and rewarding volunteer opportunities to adults 55 years and older. Made possible by AmeriCorps Seniors, the program connects volunteers with young people enrolled in Head Start, preschool, and elementary school classrooms where Foster Grandparents serve as mentors and tutors while working one-to-one and/or small group settings with students with special/Exceptional needs to improve their academic, social, or emotional development.

The Foster Grandparent program pairs Connecticut schools with compassionate and experienced mentors who provide classroom support. Their roles include assisting with classwork, reinforcing behavioral lessons, and serving as another trusted adult in the classroom.   2023 Foster Grandparent Program Overview. English and Spanish
