Thanksgiving Meal

Tuesday, November 22nd at 1:00pm

 

Please join us for a yummy Thanksgiving meal and celebrate our community.

The menu: roasted turkey with gravy, stuffing, potato, corn, cranberry sauce, roll,
and dessert

Thanksgiving meals are $8.00 each. You can register for one or both! Registration begins Nov 1st. Must register by Nov 15th.

Lunch & Learn: Fire Protection

Wednesday, November 16th at 12:30pm

 

Chris Taylor, Fire Chief from the Flanders Fire Department, will provide tips on fire safety awareness, and help ensure you and your family are protected as well as your home.

Cost is $2 per person. Registration begins Nov 1st. Register by Nov 10th

COVID Testing

Every other Monday from 10:30am-12:00pm

Starting November 7th

 

The East Lyme Senior Center is teaming up with RSM Diagnostics www.rsmdiagnosticslab.com to offer a combined COVID 19
PCR and Flu test on a by-weekly basis. The lab will bill to your
insurance with zero out of pocket costs to you

Veterans Day Brunch Celebration

Thursday, November 10th at 10:00am

 

Please join us as we honor our members who have served in the the U.S. Armed Forces.

We will serve a breakfast casserole, bacon, fruit salad, bagels, coffee & juice.

Musical entertainment by Valley Shore Acappella.

$3 per person. No charge for Service Members.

Registration begins on Nov 1st. Register by 7th.

Food Distribution

Friday, November 4th from 10:00-11:00am

 

In addition to the generous assortment of non-perishable items, limited amounts of poultry, meats, dairy and vegetables, we will distribute COVID test kits and face masks until supplies run out.

This program exists through the generosity of United Community & Family Services, Gemma E. Moran Food Center, United Way and Connecticut Food Bank.

AARP Safe Driving Class Update

It has become necessary to develop a wait-list for the Wednesday, November 16th Safe Driving Class. If you would like to add your name to the list, please contact the Senior Affairs Office at 860-887-5581 extension 6.

November Cafe Menu

The Café Program is held each Monday at the Preston Senior at 11:30 a.m. Reservations are necessary as we do not have the capability of accommodating walk-in patrons. We ask that you register by Wednesday of the previous week in which you plan on attending the Monday luncheon. Call 860-889-0770 on Monday (9:00 – 3:00 p.m.) or Tuesday & Thursday (12:30 – 4:00 p.m.) Thank you.

 

Menu:

November 7th: Stuffed Chicken Cordon Bleu, Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes,
Zucchini & Yellow Squash, Sweet Treat, Apple Juice, Bread, Margarine and
Beverage.
November 14th: Meatballs Marinara, Penne Pasta, Mixed Vegetables Medley,
Tropical Fruit Cup, Bread, Margarine and Beverage.
November 21st: Braised Beef Tips, Egg Noodles, Zucchini & Yellow Squash, Mixed Fruit Cup, Bread, Margarine and Beverage.
November 28th: Country Fried Beef Steak, Herb Roasted Potatoes, Zucchini &
Yellow Squash, Diced Pears, Bread, Margarine and Beverage.

 

There is a suggested donation request of $3.00 per person to participate in
the luncheon. Everyone is welcome regardless of ability to donate.

O’tis a Festival

Saturday, November 19th from 9:00am-2:00pm

Otis Library  261 Main Street, Norwich

Mark your calendar and kick off the holiday season at Otis Library’s 14th annual O’tis a Festival!  A holiday marketplace of all things creative including artisans, one-of-kind handcrafted items, live entertainment and, of course, Santa!  A great way to support local crafters for your holiday gifts!

 

Beltone Hearing Aid Clinic

Thursday, November 17th from 9:00-11:00am

 

As a service to the local community, a Hearing Care Practitioner from Beltone will be at the Rose City Senior Center to meet with seniors by appointment.  A trained professional will be available for cleaning and checking all makes and models of hearing aids, along with answering any questions you may have about hearing aids and hearing health.  This is a free service.  Appointment is needed.

Beltone will offer this service every 4 months. The next Hearing Aid Clinic will be held on March 16.
