Covid-19 Vaccination Clinic

Monday, August 22nd from 1:00-3:00pm

 

Ledge Light Health District will host a COVID-19 vaccine clinic at the East Lyme Senior Center. Only the Moderna vaccine will be available at this clinic for individuals 12 years or older who need a 1st or 2nd dose (primary series) or are eligible for a 1st or 2nd booster dose.

 

The following groups are eligible for a 1st booster shot at this clinic:
• individuals 18 years of age & older who have had a primary dose of Janssen COVID-19 vaccine and it has been at least 2 months and would like a mRNA booster.
The following groups are eligible for a 2nd booster shot at this clinic:
• individuals 50 years of age & older who have received a first booster dose of any authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccine and it has been at least 4 months since first booster dose.

 

All clinics are free and open to the public. No appointment, insurance, or ID is necessary. Please bring your CDC vaccination card if you have one. Minors (12+) must have a parent/guardian present in order to get vaccinated.

White House Butler- Alan Devalerio

Former White House butler Alan DeValerio is coming to Connecticut!! He’s going to give you the inside details about all the preparations involved in White House entertaining. Not only will he relate his first-hand experiences with history, but he will pass on the stories from those people that he worked with (like Eugene Allen, on whom the movie “The Butler” was based) who have been taking care of our First Families ever since the Franklin Roosevelt administration! Alan will also display many of the White House artifacts (menus, programs, personal photos, etc. ) that he has collected over the years.

AARP Driver Safety Smart Driver Course

Thursday, August 18th from 9:00am-1:00pm

The AARP Smart Driver™ course, is a classroom based refresher course for drivers age 50 and older.  This 4 hour, in-person class will give you useful information to help keep you safe on the roads. You could even save money on your insurance!  Auto insurance companies in most states provide a multi-year discount after showing proof of completing the course.  Please consult your auto insurance company about the discounts available to you from taking this class. 

Cost: $20 AARP Members      $25 AARP Non-Members

Pay directly to AARP by check or cash on the day of the class

In this very important presentation, learn about the different ways scammers are targeting people by using phone, text, romance, social media, email/mail, “IRS”, and donation scams along with several others.  You will learn the “red flags” of what to look for in a scam and ways to protect yourself.  Scams are unfortunately a fact of life, but you don’t have to be a victim.  Join us and become more aware on how to prevent them from ruining your identity and finances.
