Hikers from other towns are welcome to participate. Medium hikes may have a few hills, rocks or beach sand. The difficult hike is more strenuous; participants must have completed two medium hikes.

All hikes are approximately three to four miles long, and will begin at 9:30 A.M.   *Senior Van – $5.00 fee limited occupancy. Hikers who wish to carpool should meet at East Lyme Senior Center at 9:00 A.M.

Distances, locations and leaders are subject to change, if necessary.   All hikers must register for each hike by calling the East Lyme Senior Center – 860-739-5859.

Hikers are to bring water and sturdy shoes; and lunch, insect repellant and sunscreen if desired.

AARP Mature Driver Safety Class

Wednesday, September 7th from 12:30-4:30pm

 

$20 for AARP member, $25 for non-members
Register with the Senior Center office. Payment due upon registration.

The AARP Smart Driver course is the nation’s first refresher course specifically designed for drivers age 50 and older. In many states, drivers may benefit from a discount on their auto insurance premium upon completing the course. Contact your insurance company to find out. And you will learn something new along the way. In fact, an evaluation of the course found that 97% of participants changed at least one driving habit as a result of what they learned.

Regional Event Block Party

Bring your lawn chair/blanket and listen or dance to the Corvettes Doo Wop Review. Food Trucks will be available to bring a picnic dinner and enjoy the night air and your fellow do wop enthusiasts. Event to be held at Thrive 55+ powered by the Groton Senior Center @ 102 Newtown Road, Groton.

$10 per person – limited tickets available. Get your ticket at the Senior Center
office. A bus will be provided if we have enough registration.

Smith Acres Succulent Workshop

Tuesday, September 20th at 9:30am

 

Come join one of Smith’s Acres “Veggie Girls” and create a cute succulent dish garden.. These easy to care for plants love to hang out on a sunny windowsill or table. We will have lots of different varieties of succulents to choose from.

All supplies included.

Cost is $10 per person.

Sea Glass Starfish Window Hanger/Ornament Craft

Thursday, September 15th at 1:00pm

 

Come craft a wire wrapped starfish with Still Waters USA a local Westbrook small business. Supplies are included & participants will take home a completed starfish to keep for themselves or as a gifting option! No experience needed. Cost is $10 per person.

Cook Well With Diabetes Class

Mondays from 11:00am-1:00pm starting on September 12th

 

Cook Well, Eat Well is a FREE 4-week class providing hands-on, creative, fun activities, professional instruction, interesting experiences, a wonderful cookbook and delicious meals! This program is perfect for adults with diabetes and/or their partner/spouse/caregiver.
