The Senior Farmer Market Voucher program age and income requirements: 60 years of age or older, income 185% FPL (Single: $1986 per month/$23828 per year; Couple: $2686 per month/$32227 per year), and one packet of vouchers per person per year.
Tips for using Senior Farmer Market Vouchers:
Use the vouchers! Although the vouchers are valid until the end of October, many markets begin to shut down in September– don’t wait until the last minute. They do monitor which vouchers get redeemed and this decides future funding. If you don’t use it, we may all lose it!
Keep the vouchers in a safe place. Treat them as you would cash! They cannot be replaced. Use them in $3 increments or all at once ($18) but the farmer cannot give you change.
Review the list of Authorized Redemption Locations. Farm Markets needed to apply to be a redemption site so not every farmer market or farm stand is able to take them.
Vouchers can be used to purchase fruits, vegetables, cut herbs or honey. They can NOT be used to buy sandwiches, meat, dairy, crafts or some of the other lovely items sold at farmers’ markets.
Check with the location you choose to see if there are any special restrictions. Some still encourage wearing a mask or social distancing. Some markets are more handicap accessible than others.
You can send someone else to shop for you if you have completed a Proxy Form.
Have Fun!
