Connecticut Legal Services Presentation

We are pleased to announce that we have invited Attorney Leah Pollard Schad of Connecticut Legal Service to attend a special presentation on Wills, Living Wills, Health Care Proxies, Powers of Attorney and Conservatorships on Wednesday, April 24th at 1:00 p.m. The doors to the Preston Senior Center will open at 12:30 p.m. Limited seating is available. Bring your questions and concerns and have them addressed by Attorney Pollard Shad.

March TVCCA Cafe Menu

We will be offering a “Special Meal” on Monday, March 18th to our
participants. It will be the St. Patrick’s Day Celebration meal which will include
Corned Beef & Cabbage, Steamed Potatoes, Sliced Carrots, Dinner Roll &
Margarine, Irish Soda Bread, Apple Juice, and beverage. There is a suggested
donation for this meal only of $4.50. To register for the meal, please make your
selection by Monday, March 11th

The entire calendar of March includes the following menu selections:

March 4th: Stuffed Chicken Kiev, Rice Pilaf, Green Beans, Fresh Oranges, Bread, Margarine and beverage.
March 11th: Meatballs Marinara, Pasta Shells w/Herbs, Peas, Mandarin Oranges, Bread, Margarine and beverage.
March 18th: Corned Beef & Cabbage menu as previously stated with the
suggested donation of $4.50 per person 60 years of age and older.
March 25th: Beef Stew, Steamed Parsley Potatoes, Broccoli, Birthday Treat, Orange Juice, Bread, Margarine and beverage.

 

The suggested donation for the meal program is $3.00 per person who is 60
years of age or older with the exception of a “Special Meal” which has an increase

Generations Family Health Center

Wednesday, March 27th from 11:45am-12:45pm

 

A community health worker from Generations Family Health Center will be at the Senior Center to discuss the health care services they offer.  Generations offers access to Primary Care (Medical, Dental and Behavioral Health) and is currently accepting new patients of all ages.  Generations also offers assistance with insurance applications, a Sliding Fee Scale available, assistance with linkages to financial benefits, and can help you to afford your prescriptions.

Drop-in between 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. to discuss your heath care needs.  Appointment not needed.

Generations Family Health Center is located at 330 Washington Street, Norwich.

 

Ukulele Lessons

 

Wednesdays in March at 12:30 p.m

Interested in learning how to play the Ukulele?  No experience is needed, just a willingness to learn something new and have fun playing.  This 6-week beginner class began in February.

You can still join the last four classes in March.  The last class will be on Wednesday, March 27th.

You must bring your own ukulele.  Reasonably priced ukuleles can be purchased on Amazon.

Do you play a musical instrument?  Do you think you’d enjoy playing different genres of music from over the years, including Country, Oldies, and Show Tunes

Rose City Senior Center’s Roseland Combo is looking for additional members to join them in entertaining a variety of groups.  Stop by any Tuesday morning at 10:15 a.m. to meet with the current band members and see what joining the group is all about.

The group meets weekly on Tuesdays for rehearsal and periodically performs at local area senior housings, nursing homes, etc.  Open to Senior Center Members only.

Property Rehabilitation Program

Friday, March 15th from 10:00-12:00pm

 

Nallely Chavez, Lead Program Community Liaison from the City of Norwich Community Development Office will be here to answer questions on funding they offer for repair and rehabilitation of properties where low and moderated income people live.  Single family and multi-family structures are included.

Eligible repair & rehabilitation projects include: roof repairs or replacement, energy efficiency improvements for windows, furnaces & insulation, electrical system repairs, lead-based paint abatement and handicapped accessibility improvements.

 

  • Owner Occupant Load Program

Owner/Occupant (non-elderly) : 20-year repayment loan at 0% interest.

Owner/Occupant individuals 62+ : Deferred 0% interest loan due 30 years from the date of the lien, or at the transfer or sale of the property, or if the owner no longer resides in the premises.

 

Games Day!

Wednesday, March 27th from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m.

 

Three Rivers Middle College National Honors Society students will be here for an afternoon of fun and games!  Join us to play various card games, board games, Cornhole and more!

Cookies & coffee will be served and Goody Bags will be given out to all participants.

Golden Nuggets

Tuesdays from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

The group will be starting back on Tuesday, March 5th

Golden Nuggets is Rose City Senior Center’s glee club and they are looking for new members. Singers of any level of experience are welcome to join them. Spring is a great time to join this talented group as they will be starting back after their Winter break and preparing for their Spring Concert!

If you are interested in joining Golden Nuggets, you must join by March 19th.

Anyone wishing to join after that date will be accepted on a case by case basis.
