Entertainment: Accordion Player, Sam Gavish.

Wednesday, June 19th at 1:00pm for Accordion Player Sam Gavish performing a world of musical odyssey. His repertoire of music is rich with dozens of instrumental sounds from Western and Eastern Europe, South and Central America, Israel
folklore, and traditional Jewish music.

Movie: Green Book.

Tuesday, June 18th at 12:45pm we will be showing the recently released Best Picture Oscar winning movie Green Book. In this movie, “Dr. Don Shirley is a world-class African-American pianist who’s about to embark on a concert tour in the Deep South in 1962. In need of a driver and protection, Shirley recruits Tony Lip, a tough-talking bouncer from an Italian-American neighborhood in the Bronx. Despite their differences, the two men soon develop an unexpected bond while confronting racism and danger in an era of segregation.”

Memorial Garden Annual Dedication Ceremony

Wednesday, June 12th at 1:00pm Memorial Garden Annual Dedication Ceremony which will be held outside (weather permitting), inside if not. Refreshments will be served.

The New Horizon’s Band of the Community Music School

Tuesday, June 11th at 1:00pm as The New Horizon’s Band of the Community Music School will perform various marches, show tunes, classics and seasonal music for us. This all Seniors band is a reminder to us, that you are never too old to pick up an instrument.

Thursday, May 30th- The East Lyme Library Foundation Presents: Health, Wellness, and Longevity How to live your life longer and better

Time: 7:00pm

Location: East Lyme Community Center

Dr. Geoffrey Tremont and Dr. Cooney will be the guest speakers. In addition, availability and accessibility of support services for older individuals in SECT will be discussed. Dr. Tremont is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Brown University and will share his expertise in cognitive function discussing normal patterns of aging, psychological aging, and memory loss and its prevention.

Dr. Cooney is a Professor of Medicine in Internal Medicine, Geriatric, and Rheumatology at Yale University and will speak in-depth on adaption ot getting older, both physically and cognitively.

Thursday, May 29th- White House Memories

Time: 6:00pm

Former White House butler, Alan DeValerio, will tell you about his personal experience working in the White House. From providing inside details about all the preparations involved in White House entertainment to sharing stories of taking care of our First Families since the Franklin Roosevelt administration, he will relate his first-hand experiences with history. His book, A History of Entertaining in the Modern White House, will be available for purchase. This program is brought to you by the East Lyme Public Library and the East Lyme Senior Center.

Friday, June 21st- Day Trip to Newport Flower Show

Departure time: 8:45am

When registering for any of the below trips, you can sign up yourself and one other person only. Payment is due upon registration. Please stop by the Senior Center office.

DAY TRIPS Registration begins on the dates noted below. Register as soon as you can. Trip counts are required a month in advance to determine if we have the minimum number for a trip to run. Detailed flyers available for all Day Trips. 

Trip to the Newport Flower Show at Rosecliff Mansion in Newport with lunch/shopping on your own at the Wharf. Trip fee is $49pp. Registration begins March 1st. Moderate walking.
