Come join us for some great exercise while learning some wonderful dances. Classes are ongoing, you can join at any time! Great way to start the week off—getting some exercise while having fun! Come and learn Latin & Ballroom Line dancing (Samba, Merengue, Rumba, ChaCha, Tango, Charleston & more!) You do not need a partner. This is a fun way to get physical exercise along with mental exercise by remembering steps/routines as well as having fun and being with/making new friends! Enjoy – Wear comfortable clothing/sneakers and get moving!

The Moon and the Festival ~ Highlights from the Summer of ‘69

The Golden Nuggets Glee Club and Roseland Combo, will be presenting their Summer concert ‘The Moon and the Festival’ which they recently performed at local senior living and rehab centers.  These two wonderful groups consist of very talented Senior Center members who will be performing a selection of themed songs.  Popular songs included in the concert will be from the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. The concert will focus the 50th anniversary of the Summer of ‘69’s amazing first moon landing and the Woodstock music festival.  We hope you join us for this wonderful performance!  This event is free.

In addition, a Backus Radiologic Technologist will provide free bone density screenings which offers fracture risk assessments that take just a few minutes.  Participants sit comfortably during the pain-free exam and the unit’s ultrasound technology emits no radiation.  Millions of Americans have low bone density or osteoporosis, a disease which causes porous and fragile bones.  Osteoporosis causes an estimated two million broken bones every year.

Another tremendous community event at Groton Senior Center- Bakers Battle on Saturday, March 9th! We are deeply thankful for 20 plus bakers that competed with such enthusiasm, heart and great skill! In addition, we are so grateful to the over 120 persons who tasted and judged! A vast array of goodness for any sweet tooth; it was a tough call to pick who one liked best. The votes were very close.

FREE and open to the Public. Approximately 4 miles. Meet at, and hike through, the Sheep Farm & onto the new 104 acre addition, then across Route1, through The Merritt Family Forest & onto Beebe Pond Park, through the Moore Woodlands, finishing at Beebe Pond’s parking lot on Noank Road.  Stroll to Town’s End as an optional extension. Some rugged trails & terrain, moderate paced. Wear sturdy shoes, bring water & small snack. Transportation will be provided back to the Sheep Farm parking area.
