Friday, October 12th- Groton Rotary Dinner

$6.00 Beef Stroganoff, Side Salad, Rolls, Dessert, Punch, Coffee – Registration Required by 10/10.

Join us for this evening dinner to benefit Groton Rotary Club Academic Scholarship Fund. 2018 Rotary scholar awards of $2,000 will be given to three graduating seniors from any of the Groton high schools: Robert E. Fitch High School, Ella T. Grasso Southeastern Technical High School, or the Marine Science Magnet High School.

Part of proceeds go towards Groton Rotary Academic Scholarship Fund

Club 55’s annual fundraiser is looking for donations of hand made craft items to sell. If you knit, sew, or do any other type of craft, please leave your name and number at the front desk. ONLY handmade crafts please.

YELLOW DOT SAFETY PROGRAM DINNER

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 27TH 5 -7 pm     $6 PER PERSON

TRIAD is now cooperative partnership between seniors, law enforcement, public safety and human service agencies to improve delivery of services to senior citizens.

This national TRIAD initiative provides a yellow dot to adhere in the car’s rear window to alert emergency response personnel to senior drivers’ and passengers’ medical information stored in the vehicle.

Please bring all current medical information when registering.
Photos will be taken on site. Information cards are also utilized to alert emergency personnel of the injured senior’s family members whose care may be dependent upon the senior, such as a home bound spouse. Event is at Groton Senior Center.

Wednesday, November 14th- Know the 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s Disease- Presentation by Kristine Johnson, Eastern Regional Director – Alzheimer’s Association

Time: 10:00am

Join us for this informative presentation on the 10 early warning signs of Alzheimer’s.  Alzheimer’s is a disease that causes slow decline in memory, thinking and reasoning skills.  This presentation will help differentiate between normal age related forgetfulness and Alzheimer’s disease indicators.   This talk is recommended for anyone

who is interested in learning more about the early detection of Alzheimer’s and related dementias; and will give you a better understanding of those suffering from this disease.

Join us for this presentation by Dr. Nimit Patel from Orthopedic Partners.  Dr. Patel will be discussing shoulder problems, including conservative and operative treatments involving the rotator cuff.

Dr. Patel is a Fellowship Trained Orthopedic Surgeon, specializing in sports medicine, arthroscopy, cartilage restoration, fracture care and osteoarthritis.

Wednesday, October 24th- SENIOR CENTER FLU CLINIC

Time: 10:00 a.m. – Noon

No Appointment Necessary – Just Walk-In

Vaccine covered by Medicare, ConnectiCare Medicare Advantage Plans, Aetna Medicare Advantage Plans, Anthem Medicare Advantage Plans.  For those under 65 years old, vaccine covered by Aetna, Anthem and ConnectiCare.  There is a fee for anyone not covered by Medicare or insurance.

Please bring a copy of your driver’s license and insurance card.  The reason for this is twofold, it provides your identification and information needed to bill your insurance.  It will also allow the nurses to proceed quickly without the burden of photocopying driver’s licenses or insurance cards.
