Seniors Support Group Proposal

Are you interested in talking with your peers about your experiences with health concerns, relationships, or loneliness?  In this support group, Senior Center Members can share fears and frustrations, receive support without judgment, and be reassured that others share similar problems.  This group will provide an outlet for you to talk about your feelings that sometimes friends and family members who are not in the same situation may not fully understand.

If there is enough interest in starting this support group, it will meet on Wednesdays at 10:00a.m. and will be limited to 10 seniors.  Seniors Support Group will be led by Kerri Redner, LCSW, RYT, C-MI

Please contact Kerri (860) 889-5960 if you are interested in participating or have questions.

Do you Play a Musical Instrument?

Rose City Senior Center’s band, Roseland Combo, is looking for additional people to join them.  If you think you might enjoy playing the good old songs with a small group of wonderful people, stop by on a Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. to meet with the current band members and see what joining the group is all about. The group meets weekly on

Tuesdays for rehearsal and periodically performs at local area senior housings, nursing homes, etc.

Interested in writing?  Looking for a group of like-minded individuals?  Join the Writers Group!

Everyone has a story.  Multiple stories, actually – from the funny thing that happened yesterday to your life experiences throughout the years, writing them down is a creative way to capture these memories!

The Life Long Learning Writers Group meets at the Senior Center every-other Friday.  Whether you’re a new writer or you’ve been creating works for years, this group is a welcoming place for all to encourage and support each other’s creative journey.  No grading, share only what you want to – the only requirement is to laugh and have a good time!  Writers of all types of literature are welcome.

Healthy Brain Series

Monday, December 4th  from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.

Join Kristine Johnson, Dementia Specialist from Hartford Healthcare Center for Healthy Aging, to learn activities and useful information on maintaining a healthy brain.  This is the last class in a 5-part series.

Blue Zones are five regions in the world where a higher percentage of people live to an age older than average.  Although the locations are diverse, residents of these areas have shown to have commonality such as sense of purpose, higher level of physical activity, healthier diets, and a sense of belonging.  Lessons for Living Longer From People Who Lived the Longest will examine these commonalities and small changes that can result in living a longer, happier and healthier life.

Sign up at Reception if you will be attending.
