Organizing Crafting Projects

Friday, January 19th from 10:00am-12:00pm

 

Hello 2024 and welcome to a new crafting year. Begin this year by creating and upgrading a few new paper organization projects. Using one sheet of 12 x 12 double sided printed paper to upgrade a small plain clipboard into a fabulous clipboard, create a coordinating mini lined notepad using the same patterned paper and customize a coordinating black pen.

Basic supplies you will need- scissors and glue. Everything will be included in your craft kit.

Parkinson’s Disease: Living with Intent

Every Thursday from 2:00-4:00pm

Group class combining exercises for speech, memory, movement and music for people living with Parkinson’s disease. Participants will learn how using INTENT can improve overall health, wellness, and joy!

East Lyme Recycling Program Presentation

Separating your recyclables at home plays a crucial role in the recycling process. From there, it’s our responsibility to make sure your recycling pickup is handled properly. Joe Bragaw, Public Works Director, will explain how East Lyme’s recycling process works.

Improving Balance and Mobility to Reduce Fall Risk

Tuesday, January 16th at 10:00am

 

Exercise physiologist and Senior Fitness Specialist, George Norden, will be sharing a presentation on balance, fall prevention, and how to get up after a
fall. He will explain how and why balance declines as we age, what you can do
to maintain or regain it, as well as exercises to do to prevent falls, and how to get up properly if you experience one.

AARP Tax Aide Program

The AARP Tax-Aide program will return this year to provide free tax
counseling and preparation for middle to low-Income taxpayers
with special attention to those people aged 60 and over.

To schedule your appointment and get the details about how the program will operate, call starting Wed, Jan 10th at 9am.

Appointments will be held on Mon and Fri mornings beginning Mon, Feb 5th and will end on Mon, Apr 8th. Limited Saturday appointments available.

January TVCCA Cafe Menu

Our Congregate Meal Program is held on each Monday (with the exception
of holidays and power outages) at 11:30 p.m. at the Preston Senior Center, 42
Long Society Road, Preston. Reservations are necessary and we ask that you make your reservation one week prior to the day you plan on attending the program. Our meal orders are made one week in advance of the actual date of the meal.

 

Our January schedule is as follows:

January 8th: Country Style Chicken, Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes, Cauliflower,
Carrots & Snap Peas, Mixed Fruit Cup, Bread, Margarine and Beverage.

January 15th: Program closed due to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

January 22nd: Chicken Cacciatore, Pasta Shells w/Herbs, Green & Waxed Beans, Applesauce Cup, Bread, Margarine and Beverage.

January 29th: Italian Pork Sausage & Peppers, Penne Pasta w/Marinara, Green & Yellow Squash, Fresh Fruit, Bread, Margarine and Beverage.

 

The suggested donation is $3.00 per person 60 years of age and older.
Person’s younger are always welcome but will be charged a fee. For reservations,

Grief Support Group

Facilitated by UCFS and our Better Health Clinician, we have a once a week Grief Support Group. We are providing this service in person once again. This is a free program. Are you sad or suffering the loss of a loved one? Spouse, child, friend, or pet? Sometimes it is very difficult to deal with such loss.

Join this confidential and private grief support group and learn coping techniques and ways to help you deal with your loss. Support group is on-going, please sign up by calling the office at #860-848-0422. No need to speak in the group if you are not comfortable, you will still take away ways to cope with loss!
