Abraham Lincoln: Slide Presentation

On February 26th at 1:00pm Paula Hopewell will be here to do a Slide Presentation on Abraham Lincoln.  Paula Hopewell’s presentation entitled Abraham Lincoln, President of the People: Perspectives from the Mason-Dixon Line, covers the influence the border region had on Lincoln and the sources of his extraordinary compassion, a character trait that helped him steer the country through the Civil War. She details some of the tragedies of Lincoln’s personal life and highlight excerpts from his exquisite speeches. In addition, the presentation will include information about Connecticut’s role in the War, including Harriet Beecher Showe’s connection, the Copperhead movement in Connecticut, and 1860 and 1864 Presidential election results for some of Connecticut’s local towns.  Call (860) 434-1605 Ext. 240 to register.

VALENTINE CARDS FOR VETERANS

Hearts Join us and the East Lyme Middle School students for 2 afternoons of making Valentines for our local Veterans. No special skill required – just the desire to recognize our Veterans. Snacks will be provided. Call to register beginning February 1st.

East Lyme High School Chinese Exchange Students all morning to explain about their Culture,

Chinese Food luncheon at 11:45am – $9pp.

An Afternoon With George and Ira Gershwin

February 23rd at 1:00pm join us for An Afternoon with George and Ira Gershwin. Using words and music, Julie tells the story of the Gershwin Brothers….George who changed the course of American music with “Rhapsody in Blue” and “Porgy and Bess” and Ira, whose lyrics graced Broadway hits and Hollywood classics. Beginning with “S’ Wonderful” & ending with “The Man That Got Away”….this is a tune filled delight. Please call to register.

NURSE MANAGED FOOT CLINIC

2nd Wed of every month from 1:00pm to 3:00pm

A nurse from the Visiting Nurses Association of Southeastern Connecticut (VNA of SECT) is available for routine foot care. Appointments are required. The fee is $10pp.

Anyone with a Diabetic diagnosis cannot be seen by this clinic but all others are welcome.

Fridays- BINGO

Fridays 1:00pm to 3:00pm

$1.00 for the 1st card and .25¢ for every additional card up to a maximum of 9 cards.

Will teach if you do not know how to play.

SOCIAL BRIDGE- Wednesdays

Wednesdays 1pm to 4:00pm
