MEDICATION TAKE BACK DAY

If you have expired, unused or unwanted medications in your household, here is your opportunity to dispose of them easily and safely. Saturday, April 30th from 10am to 2pm, the East Lyme Police Department will accept your medications for disposal for free and no questions asked.

Connecticut Valley Camera Club (CVCC)

The Connecticut Valley Camera Club will be meeting at the Lymes’ Senior Center on the 1st Monday of every month, starting on May 2, 2016 at 7:00pm. Our objective is to help our members become better photographers by offering presentations, workshops, and critiques. We encourage our members to publicize their work and offer multiple annual exhibitions to that end. We welcome photographers of all skill levels. The May meeting will feature a member’s critique (members submit 3-5 images for constructive comments) with the subject open. The meeting will also show winning photos from the annual Glennie Nature Salon which is a premier, international all-nature club competition of digital images know for it’s diversity of subjects that range from animals to botany to landscapes. 6 Week PiYo Strength Class- NEW SESSION

On May 17th at 5:45pm we will be starting a 6 Week Pilates Class on Tuesday Nights. PiYo Strength is a fun, work at your own level class, joining Pilates and Yoga into one workout. You will burn calories, tone muscles, work on balance and get a great stretch. It is designed to build strength and flexibility You will exercise your body, mind and spirit. Yoga mat needed. The cost is $24.00 which is due at the first class and requires pre- signup. This six week class will cost $24.00 and prepayment is required at the office. Make payment out to: Marsha Pirie. Minimum of 10 people will be needed to hold this class.

On May 12th from 1-2 we will be taking a group visit to High Hopes to learn more about the inner workings of this organization and about their Equine Assisted Activities. 8 Week Intro to Creative Drawing Class

8 Week Intro to Creative Drawing Class

This class is for beginners and those with some drawing experience. Sharon Schmeidel who has a BFA in painting from Maryland Institute College of Art will instruct this 8 week class which begins on May 10th and will be held on Tuesdays from 10:00am-12:00pm. The cost of the class is $32.00 and space is limited. Sign up is required. Call (860)434-1605 ext 240 to sign up. Learning to draw is a process; letting go and trusting the process can be liberating and bring out your creativity. In this class there will be demos and guidance with drawing exercises that will help students learn to see as an artist sees. Direction will be offered, but students will be encouraged to experiment and develop their own style. The instructor asks students to check the inner critic at the door, and step into an encouraging environment. Bring a sketchpad, pencils, vine or willow charcoal, and an eraser to the first class. A supply list with a several more inexpensive supplies will be handed out then.

This class is for students who have taken two or more classes with Sharon Schmeidel or have a good art foundation and permission from the instructor. Students can work in either medium. Playful experimenting will be combined with exercises that will further develop your drawing skills. The instructor will introduce ideas and demos at

the beginning of each class, though students are encouraged to work on their own projects with subject matter that interests them. Individual instruction is given throughout class.
