A Journey to the Gallows

A Book Discussion with authors Vic Butsch and Tommy Coletti

Thursday, April 21st @ 10:00 a.m.

Join us as local authors Vic Butsch and Tommy Coletti present their historical fictional novel, A Journey to the Gallows, which tells the story of Connecticut native Aaron Dwight Stevens, a slavery abolitionist from the pre-Civil War era.

Aaron Dwight Stevens, an ill-tempered, zealous and noble young man is an often overlooked American hero. Born in Lisbon and raised in Norwich, Dwight Stevens left home at the age of 16 to act on his convictions. He ventured near and far, and ultimately, woke the nation up to the start of a new chapter in America’s history- the end of slavery.

In this gripping novel, Butsch and Coletti tell the realistic tales of Dwight Stevens’ journey with his joining the First Massachusetts Regiment to fight the war against Mexico; his enlistment into the First Dragoons (Cavalry) serving on the Western frontier; joining with John Brown and the Kansas militia to fight against slavery during Bloody Kansas and the raid on Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Paired with the emotional credence of Dwight Stevens’ beliefs, and the unwavering devotion of his fellow abolitionists, A Journey to the Gallows brings history to life in the most entertaining way.

Please sign up at reception.
