BUNCO TUESDAY

We have a NEW Bunco committee that will run our BUNCO game on a Tuesday, once a quarter, 4 times during the year!

Join us for an afternoon with some great people and great fun! Experience not necessary, the committee will show you how to play!  Please watch the bulletin board for sign up so the committee can have an accurate account of how many will attend.

Dear Seniors,

We are into this beautiful Fall season, enjoy the foliage but please ask for help in raking leaves if needed. Please inquire, as there are services available to help!

And as we head into the colder months, do not forget to apply for Energy Assistance. There are different programs available and Kathie will sit with each of you to see which ones you qualify for! Don’t be cold this winter, stay warm and in your heated home! As always, I am here for questions or concerns!

Thanksgiving Meal

Come join the East Lyme Senior Center staff and friends for our Annual Thanksgiving Meal on Friday, November 20th at 11:45m. Registration begins November 2nd. The fee is $7pp and the menu is Turkey, Stuffing & Gravy, Mashed Potatoes, Peas & Onions and Pumpkin Pie. Afterwards, Turkey Bingo! That’s right, you’ll need to “Gobble Gobble” in order to win!

Salute to our Veterans’ Dinner

The East Lyme Senior Center will host a luncheon on Friday, November 13th at 11:45am in honor of our Town’s Veterans. The fee is $7pp but our Vets eat for free! To show how much we care, the Senior Center staff will be cooking. Registration begins on November 2nd and if you are a Vet, please let us know and provide us with your branch of service. Entertainment to follow.

Let’s Talk about Knee Pain and Weakness

Chris from Select Physical Therapy in Old Lyme will be here on November 3rd at 1:00pm to discuss current concepts related to knee pain and weakness. The benefits of the correct exercises along with physical therapy. The last portion of the talk will be opened up to your individual questions.

Trailblazers

December hikes will be held December 1st, 8th & 22nd at 9:30am. Open Space Coordinator from Lyme, Wendy Hill will be leading them. For more information and to get on her hiking mailing list email openspace@townlyme.org

Pierce Campbell

Join us on November 4th at 1:30pm for a performance from Pierce Campbell, who was appointed the Connecticut State Troubadour for 2007 & 2008 by the Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism.  The Senior Club is sponsoring this event and the cost is $1.00 which will be paid at the door. Pierces performance is sure to be uplifting, humorous, and engaging with his powerful vocals and superb, expressive guitar which have been fine-tuned throughout his 35 year career.

 

Cellar Gang Performs at November Club Gathering

Join us on Tuesday, November 24th for our monthly Club gathering and enjoy a live performance by Cellar Gang 12:30 – 1:15 pm. Groton Senior Center offers quite a few social events often attached to meals that are offered to provide socialization and entertainment for  our community. Most of our events also have a hand chosen entertainer for you to enjoy.

This month we hope you make it here to watch this talented group of lady musicians who perform Wire-Strung Harp, Bowed Psalterys and an occasional Hammered Dulcimer. Their Wire-Strung Harps and Psalterys were built in Frank Murphy’s Cellar (thus their name).
