Montville Senior Club News

The Senior Club will start collecting dues for the 2022 calendar year. 2022 dues will remain at the $10.00 annually. Dues help the Center with kitchen supplies and other necessities. The Club Board will meet soon to decide on best way to move forward and what the Club will be looking to do for future endeavors.

Book for Sale- White Gloves by Karen Warfield

Set in Norwich, CT in the 1860’s, White Gloves is an historical fiction novel with themes of mystery, intrigue, deception, and redemption.  Follow the story of Edwina Wojneck, a poor girl living with her family who always felt there was more to life than washing clothes and being belittled by her Mummy.

After her glamorous Aunt Vi gives her a taste of the finer things in life, Edwina is whisked off to a new “station” – being a maid in Rochurst Manor.  While there Edwina learns of the strange and disturbing past of Master Rochurst, and the tragic present circumstances of the ladies of the house!

Book Price ~ Senior Center Members: $12.00    Non-Members: $17.00

Purchase Book at Reception.  All proceeds will benefit the Rose City Senior Center.

Book Discussion: Karen Warfield will be here in late Summer/early Fall for a book discussion for those who are interested after reading the book.   The date is not yet scheduled.

Book Loan: The Senior Center has two copies of White Gloves to loan out (two week loan time) for Senior Center Members not able to purchase a book.  Please see Hilary if you are interested.

 

Elderly/Disabled (Circuit Breaker) Property Tax Credit Program 2022

Property Tax Credit (Circuit Breaker) Program is available to all CT real property owners who are age 65 or older or totally disabled.  Annual income cannot exceed $38,100 for an individual or $46,400 for a couple in 2021.  Discounts are based on a graduated income scale and are calculated by your town’s Tax Assessors Office.  Discount is applied directly to the applicant’s real property tax bill.

Norwich Residents: For more information or to apply for the Property Tax Credit Program, please call the Norwich Tax Assessor’s Office.

Applications are accepted between February 1 and May 15, 2022.

TVCCA Assistance Program 2021-2022

Eligibility is based on income, family size, assets, and expenses. 

Energy Assistance ~ Provides assistance towards a homes primary source of heat – oil, natural gas, electricity, propane, kerosene, coal, wood or wood pellets.

Water Assistance ~ This is a one-time water assistance benefit to help with restoration of household water services to disconnected homes; reduction of overdue water bills; and prevention of service disconnection.  Help is available for both household water and wastewater bills.

Income Limits:  Household Size: 1 2 3

Annual Income     $39,027 $51,035 $63,044

Payments are made directly to your utility, fuel or water provider.

Looking for Books on Tape!

The Senior Center is looking for Books on Tape donations for the Library. Please be sure they are in good working condition.  No cassette tapes.

Drop donations off at Reception.

 

Preventative Health Clinic with Nurse Rebecca- Wednesdays at 9:00am

Appointments are currently being scheduled on Wednesdays.

Toenail cutting and ear flushing appointments for Senior Center members are available in our Health Clinic with Nurse Rebecca Braddock.  Rebecca can provide foot care to seniors who are not on blood thinning medications or who are not a diabetic.  Rebecca will be at the Senior Center on Wednesday mornings, with appointments available from 8:15am – noon.
