HOSPICE SUPPORT GROUP

We will be starting this again soon.  Please call for details.  We have a volunteer from the Hospice Association that comes to facilitate a Hospice support group and activities.  Please call the Center for next date and time. Confidential.

PODIATRIST

This program will be held at the Montville Senior Center once again.  We have a wonderful Podiatrist, Dr. Thomas Walter, come to our Center once a month to perform routine foot care.  Not a service normally covered by Medicare unless you are a Diabetic, Dr. Walter will perform routine foot care for a cost less than a regular office visit.  Seniors will be let into building during appointment time only, wait time will be outside.  This Program is free to Montville seniors.  Funding for the program is provided by Title III funds made available through the Area Agency on Aging and the Town of Montville.  We ask for a $6.00 donation request per the Grant, not required for the service.  Call Kathie for details and date of next visit.

GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP

Facilitated by UCFS and our Better Health Clinician, Kendra, we have a once a week Grief Support Group at the Center on Fridays from 3:00 – 4:00 PM.  Presently this is done through phone calls / zoom though we hope to be back in person soon!  This is a free program.  Are you sad or suffering the loss of a loved one?  Spouse, child, friend, or pet?  Sometimes it is very difficult to deal with such loss.  Come and join this confidential and private grief support group and learn coping techniques and ways to help you deal with your loss.  Support group is on-going, no need to sign up, just come and join us in the Library at the Center.   No need to speak in the group if you are not comfortable, you will still take away ways to cope with loss!

HEALTH CLINIC

HEALTH CLINIC

This program is still on hold, we will inform everyone when it resumes.  Health Clinic at the Senior Center is on Tuesdays from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.  We have a visiting nurse come to the Center to perform blood pressure, blood sugar, and anemia screenings every week.  All services at the Clinic are FREE – donation box is available for contributions.  Call Kathie @ 848-0422 for details.

AARP Tax Assistance Program

Regrettably, the Preston Senior Center will not host the AARP Tax
Assistance Program during this tax season. The COVID-19 pandemic is the
primary reason. BUT existing clients will be encouraged to contact the Rose City Senior Center, 8 Mahan Drive, Norwich to receive assistance with their income tax preparation. NO NEW CLIENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Beginning during January, you are encouraged to contact the Rose City Senior Center at 860-889-5960 to schedule an appointment.

For those individuals who are existing clients only:
New to the process is that you will have to go to the Rose City Senior
Center at least 48 hours prior to your appointment to pick-up a booklet to be completed. (This is the same type of information that you would routinely complete at our center). You will need to complete the paperwork and include it with your income tax information. (Do not place your information in a plastic bag as the virus can live longer in that environment). It is suggested that you place your documents in a secure location within your locked vehicle trunk until the time of your appointment.

Drive-thru service will remain the same as last year. You drive up, staff will
take your paperwork out of the trunk of your car, they work on it and give you a call on your cell phone when they have questions or when your income tax is completed. Appointments will be available on Tuesday and Thursday only.

You will also need a cell phone available so that you can be contacted when
the AARP tax preparer completes your document.
