Countryside of the Emerald Isle  August 2- 11, 2020    10 Days 12 Meals

From remote islands and historic Dublin, to less-traveled roads and charming villages, experience the best of the Emerald Isle. Come to know the culture and welcoming hospitality of the Irish in Dublin, Ireland’s capital city. Step off the beaten path in the seaside village of Kinsale, known as Ireland’s “gourmet capital.” Overnight amongst a labyrinth of stone walls in the Aran Islands. Discover the windswept terrain of the Wild Atlantic Way. Travel amongst the tranquil countryside in the Dingle Peninsula. Give traditional Irish fare a modern twist at a cooking class in Dublin. Wednesday, July 24th- Bus Trip to WNBA Basketball Game

SENIOR CENTER FUN TRIPS
Open to Non-Residents if there is availability Non-residents will be charged a $1.00 surcharge
Senior Center Fun Trips use a bus from the Center for transport to and from destination. # of seats very limited. Registration for these trips ONLY will be on the 1st business day of the month starting at 8am. Call the office to register and then make your payment by 4pm on the 2nd business day.You can only register yourself for 1 trip but may go on Wait List for the 2nd trip.

Join us for a special 11:30am WNBA basketball game at the Mohegan Sun. Our Connecticut Sun will be playing the New York Liberty. We have lower level seating. Lunch on your own at the casino. Departure from the Senior Center at 10am. Return time around 3pm. Trip fee is $19pp. Registration has begun for this trip only.

Wednesday, July 10th- Bus Trip to Costello’s Clam Shack in Noank

Tuesday, October 15th- Day Trip to Polka at Aqua Turf

Polka at the Aqua Turf featuring the The Polka Family Band. Bring your dancing shoes or just come for the fun music. Lunch included. Trip fee is $73pp. Minimal walking. Registration begins July 1st.

Tuesday, October 1st- Day Trip to Cranberry Bog

Join us for a narrated tour of a Cranberry Bog at A.D. Makepeach Co – the world’s largest cranberry grower. Lunch is included at Lindsey’ Family Restaurant and menu choice is needed upon registration. Stop at Dorothy Cox Chocolates Factory before heading home. Trip fee is $92pp. Moderate walking. Registration begins July 1st.

Thursday, August 22nd- Trip to Long Island

Join us on a delightful ferry ride to Long Island where we will enjoy a 30 minute guided of Raphael Winery and sample 3 of their wines and have a bit of cheese.  Lunch & time on your own in Greenport. Trip fee is $103pp. Registration has begun. Lots of walking.

Sunday, August 18th- Trip to Bradley Playhouse- Shrek the Musical

BRADLEY PLAYHOUSE – SHREK THE MUSICAL
2 pm show. A benign green ogre and his sidekick Donkey save the land from an evil lord and rescue a lovely princess from a terrible fate. Based on the blockbuster movie. Shrek The Musical is a musical with music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire. Show is 2 hours and 10 mins plus a 15 min intermission. A concession stand with popcorn, water, soda, candy, peanuts etc. is available Max of 20 persons. Bring a child and enjoy a memory you both will cherish! We depart at 12:30 pm. $28 per resident includes show and GSC transportation.

Wednesday, July 24th- Trip to CT Sun Basketball Game

We are off to see the CT Sun vs NY Liberty in a matinee (11:30 am) basketball game at the Mohegan Sun Arena with Groton Recreation Summer Campers! Enjoy sitting together and watch the best women’s basketball players in the world! $17 pp

Saturday, July 27th- Trip to Breakfast out at Groton Townhouse

Time: 8:30pm

The community gives to Groton Senior Center; Dining Out is our way of giving back to the community. Each month a restaurant is featured. Ride the senior van or meet us there. Order a full entrée or just appetizers.
Please join us Tuesdays for a “socially nutritional” evening or Saturdays for some communal nourishment.
