Griswold High School students would like to be your phone pal. Phone pals are a great way to socialize and feel less isolated. It promotes intergenerational friendship by learning about each other. A phone call a week to share your stories, jokes, talents, goals or what makes you happy. This is a great program for everyone! A once- a-week phone call can make someone’s day. If you would like to participate, please contact the Senior Center to get paired up with a student. The Senior Center is working with Michele Walworth, Capstone/ Community Service Coordinator at Griswold High School to promote a positive experience for both students and senior citizens. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program offers the support someone needs to remain living at home either with grocery shopping needs or phone reassurance. If you are 55+ contact us to hear how your help may improve the quality of life of an elderly or disabled person by volunteering around your schedule to help a neighbor in your community.

All residents of the Town of Griswold and Borough of Jewett City are invited to help clean-up their yards and streets in our community. On Saturday, April 24th, the transfer station will be open 7:00 am to 1:00 pm. There will be no fee. Get your friends, family or group together to help a neighbor/senior clean their yard. Adopt-A-Road with your friends or neighbors. Call Tina with the road you will be adopting. (PICK UP WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THOSE WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION.)
