Spots go fast on all our trips and some are already filled up. We do our best to get you the best seats for the best price with a quality trip!  Check our flyers in the Thrive55+ Active Living Center, in our Discover 55+ newsletter or on our Facebook page for added information.

We offer day and extended trips around the USA and abroad. Great for singles, couples, families – there’s something for everyone and all ages. Trips are open to the public.

    We provide the ride. You enjoy the day! This trip is open to all – not just seniors nor just Groton residents. We make 3 drop off stops in NYC to best meet the wants of all. $55 per res./$65 per nonresident. Trip cost includes coach transportation & driver gratuity.

    Thursday, April 23rd- Day trip to Harlem

    Harlem is so much more than you can imagine! Our unforgettable day will include: Special guided tour of Harlem’s famed Apollo Theatre. The tour is educational, entertaining and inspirational. Hear the story of the theatre and the legendary people who performed here, such as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, James Brown, The Supremes, Stevie Wonder and so many more. See what it feels like to stand on the stage. Take a peek at the wall back stage full of signatures of all the famous musicians and artists that have performed here. Lunch at Dinosaur Barbeque, a popular Harlem restaurant. Our family style menu will include: Chopped Salad, BBQ Ribs, 1/4 Chicken, 2 Sides, Soft Drinks & Cookies. A guided riding tour highlights the diversity, history and beauty that is in Harlem, from the Harlem Meer in Central Park, the exterior of the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, the famous brownstones, the beautiful West side and so much more!!     Tuesday, March 10th- Dining Out- Sneeker’s Cafe

    ​The community gives to the Groton Senior Center; Dining Out is our way of giving back to the community. Each month a restaurant is featured. Ride the GSC bus or meet us there. Order a full entrée or just appetizers. An evening outing, socializing & enjoyment! Please join us Tuesdays for a “socially nutritional” evening.

    Registration is required for either event. 860-441-6785.

    Weather Cancellations

    Snow cancellations and early closings are on the following stations:  Television–Channel 2, WFSB Channel 3, Radio Stations WNLC (98.7), WICH (1310 am), WCTY (97.7) and K-HITS (100.9).

    Closing includes the Fitness Center and Coastal Café. If schools are delayed, the  center will open at 8:30 & transportation will start at 9am.  If you are not sure, please call the center. The center will not reopen until the parking lot and sidewalks are plowed for your safety.
